Gas tank swap?...

So: I'm in the EARLY stages of planning a SAS. One of the things I want to do is upgrade the transfer case and add a doubler (Marlin crawler in both cases). I've been talking with Wyatt over on RST, and I think I've got the "set-up" figured out. However: this set up is longer...

On to the question: does anybody know if any other Toyotas (with a smaller gas tank) use the same fuel pump/ our fuel pump will work with their tank? That's right: I'm probably the first 4th gen V8 asking how to make my gas tank smaller! I'm thinking it'll be easiest to just drop my current pump in a new tank and keep all the existing wiring and likely just have to extend some of the soft lines.

Later on, I may add one of those fancy spare tire fuel cells, but for now: I can live with more frequent stops.

Thanks in advance!

Possibly an FJ Cruiser tank (19 gallons vs. 23) or SWB Tacoma as they're the same platform but shorter chassis.

its gonna be either an FJ or tacoma (even my buddy who has a doublecab shortbed only has a 17 gallon tank). Both of those are on the same 120 chassis as us ( FJ up to 2009 model year, 2010- was 150, but still just a slight change to our chassis). The 2005-2015 tacomas are also on the 120 chassis

Id like to cut the crossmember for the spare tire out and hang one back there with a skid under it. I haven't found an exact fit and haven't had time to look into having one custom made yet.

Ever thought about going that route?
