Gauging Interest: 4th Gen V8 under hood ARB air compressor mount

Feeler thread to see if there's anyone out there interested in an air compressor mount specifically for 4th Gen 4Runner V8 and Lexus GX470 (will not fit V6 due to air intake to fender connection mounting). I needed a solution to fit the compressor behind the passenger headlight because I have a dual battery setup taking up the space on the passenger fender near the firewall, and don't like the looks of the brake master cyl style mounts. The shop that made this prototype bracket for me would like to do a run of these in a group buy format prior to offering them on their website at a higher price.

• This bracket mounts using two of the power steering reservoir mounting threaded holes and one air conditioning line bracket bolt.
• It does require PS reservoir relocation (still finalizing a more elegant solution for full bolt in installation).
• The bracket will be raw 1/4" aluminum, cut and drilled to fit ARB twin and single air compressor hole patterns, could also be used for other small item mounting if desired: solar charge controller, switchpros/sPod, dual battery ACR, fuse blocks, relays, etc.
• Pricing estimated around $100-120 shipped to the continental US including all hardware to bolt right in. How many could we potentially get in a group buy for this item?

In the picture above it's just ziptied to an L bracket on one of the mounting bolts but working to replicate the OEM reservoir mounting tab pattern for a clean look.

I ended up going with a Bandi mount, which was very good as far as workmanship and fitment. I just was bummed to give up on dual batteries.

Yeah I was in a situation where I already had the Off Grid Engineering aux battery tray installed so I had to look for somewhere other than where the Bandi mount goes. The only other off the shelf option was Rago Fabrication for the ARB twin mount near the brake booster which people seem to like. I didn't want to make access to my fuse panel and dual battery relay/fuses more difficult by mounting the compressor over there and like the lower down cleaner look, plus there's a whole bunch of room in front of the V8 airbox!

Mainly airing up tires after offroad travel. This ARB twin will take a 33-34" tire from 20psi to 45psi in under 2 minutes! While ridiculously expensive compared to my old MV-50 it cut air up time in less than half and no hot compressor to wait to cool off before putting back in it's bag, it's safely mounted under the hood already. This also leaves me the option to run air lockers in the future if that time ever comes.

I've always wanted two of those to have a quad compressor setup. Sounds pretty cool in theory. You can never air up too fast when it's cold out in Kansas or hot in Moab. Might need a decent battery setup with quads though.

Progress is that the prototype mount is working well! So convenient with the quick connect right there at hood level just behind the headlight.

Power steering reservoir mount concept is developed, just waiting on a prototype for it to test and show off.

So that whole mount is cantilevered off those two bolts on the bottom? Especially with something as vibratey as an air compressor, you're probably going to want some triangulation at a minimum.

Interested in a strong mount that can take abuse. That's a terrible spot for a second battery in my opinion but I like the compressor location!

Not terribly cantilevered, the weight of the compressor is straight down above the rear bolt. We chose 1/4" alum to make it super strong, also kept the material below the 90 degree bend all the way out to the fender for rigidity. Where this short ledge actually rests on the sheet metal, you could drill and add a nutsert to secure there as well if you wanted to but I'm attempting to make this super simple no drilling/cutting required straight up bolt in installation. Ya know, for the lexus guys... :frisky:
