Well all I can say is this is my first post...
I can also say that there is nothing harder then to find a good trustworthy mechanic. I have had my fair share of good and bad experiences with mechanics throughout my short 21 years of age considering most people I know my age cant even turn a wrench lol... and I am sure there will be many more of both to come...but hopefully more good then bad.
Since I am a student in college and have EXTREMELY limited tools I had to take my recently purchased 4runner to a mechanic to get the xreas suspension removed. I was absolutely dreading this. Regardless, both of my front struts were leaking, so after much research I decided to go ahead and replace everything with bilstein 5100's, as this was what mostly everyone suggested on this forum (thanks to all who have contributed for that info).
Shop expierence:
The general feeling when you first walk in is not a good one, as their lobby looks almost like it did after hurricane ike...but their shop floor was very nice and one of the biggest I've seen for a private shop for that matter. This was of no surprise to me cause they have been around for about 100 years in galveston.
Their parts prices were extremely compareble if not better then what I could find online, and also their quoted labor rates for the job seemed very comparable for most shops. all total: $740 and some change. well worth it to me considering I didn't have to do as much as just drive my car there, also considering I have school to think about.
This included a alignment, 4 wheel balance, and a state inspection.
Ill keep an update elsewhere on how it drives with the new bilsteins. so far I can definitely tell a difference in the rebound.
