Just observed an issue on my truck, not sure if it has been there all along, when i drive the car in the morning after sitting all through the night, when i engage reverse {my usual routine], it engages with a slight thunk/thud....which to my ears seems more pronounced from the front passenger [shaft area]. changing gears again from reverse to drive...same thing occurs.......this only happens in the morning, other times it doesnt happen.
sometimes i feel it might be the drive shaft lube issue, cos sometimes while driving and accelarting/decelating...i still get a slight lag/thump from the transmission.
i got under the car and checked...both of my cv boots are torn with grease splashed everywhere, with the passenger side being almost bone dry. i bought cv axle shafts from rockauto and intend swapping out the shafts, while i buy a cv rubber kit and repair the old shafts to keep as spare.
am wondering what else i could check for?. the mechanics in my neck of the woods arent so good, so i rather figure this out on my own than having them play a guessing game with my truck.
