Gear Indicator Light on Control Cluster

I have a 1996 4Runner SR5 4WD and a few of the bulbs on the control cluster went out. None of the gear indicator lights (D, N, R, etc) work and I don't remember where those used to be. Are they under the speedometer or between the two gauges? I can't seem to find them even when I shine a flashlight in those areas.

My buddy has a 1998 4Runner but his control cluster is different than mine - LCD mileage display and the gear indicator letters and numbers are always visible. Mine is the rotary mileage display.

Does someone have a picture of those gear indicator lights on and what color they should be?

Yours is a 96 so the gear indicator is on the floor next to the shifter. Some small upgrades were made in 98

I bet your instrument cluster looks like this one: 98 Toyota 4 Runner Speedometer Instrument Cluster Speedometer V6 Automatic | eBay

Imagine the coloring is the same as my 2002; all but R are green and R is orange.

Negative, it would look like this:

98 Toyota 4 Runner Speedometer Instrument Cluster Dash Panel Gauges 110 057 | eBay

No gear selection lights on the dash, just like in my '97. 4WD and diff lock light up on the dash, however.

That's what I was assuming since the area under the speedometer looks like solid plastic where the other areas looks like light sensors could shine through. So my "O/D OFF" bulb is the only one out. Thanks.
