Gear shift knob change

The tacoma's shift knob fits perfectly and is wrapped in leather, I am just trying to find one for cheap since a dealer was asking 100+ for it. It sits about the same height and looks just like Harper's MOMO knob. I might just steal my friends when he is not looking.

Got this message from Joel the other day regarding 4RUNNER shift knobs:

"Hey Mike!

I would love to make some 4Runner knobs!

I wonder, would the 4Runner folks be okay with coming over this way? I can start a thread for them about knobs in the XXXXXX forum. I'm worried about going over there and starting to sell knobs not knowing about their forum management/vendor requirements. I know not all forums are run like this one, but it still makes me cautious.

Let me know what you think!
"

If anyone is interested send me a PM and I'll give you Joel's email address. Who knows, maybe Joel can become a vendor here as well!

Here's some of his handiwork:

i switched out "the monolith" for an FJ shift knob shortly after i got my Trail. (been meaning to take pics for here.) the threads are a match but the shaft of the FJ knob is a bit too long so it needed to be modified slightly.

i love it. feels right in the hand and matches the transfer case lever perfectly—looks like what should have been there in the first place.

will take a pic and post again later.

If you don't have a "leather" shift knob... personally I wouldn't worry about i trying to get one. The one that came on my Limited looks exactly like Westwind's shown above. I agree... if it really is leather - its VERY cheap leather... seems more like soft plastic to me.

I don't care about it that much... size and shape works fine for me.

Don't like it. Not even sure what I don't like but...
A+ for customizing your interior though.

ditto that.

Shift Knob change.Made at work

Made this shift knob the other day while at work and had nothing to do. Made from 6061 billet aluminum and then polished. Feels nice in your hand and I guess it will do until something else comes along.

hey Ryan.
i knew you were interested... sorry it took so long to post the picture.
the part # is 33504-35091-B0... can be found here.

maybe the other part # you posted is the "metal look" version?

"manual", oddly enough.
think the "metal look" should match the, well, metal look of the transfer knob in some of the SR5s.

be aware that the FJ shaft is a bit too long; will bash the plastic trim around the gearshift unless you modify it to fit.

That FJ one looks sweet!.

I actually like the shifter that comes in the Trail Ed. mine at least doesn't feel like plastic, it's more rubberized.

I'm the opposite and dislike the shifter grip in my TE. I want a set of 08 FJ TT shift knobs for my TE. The ones posted earlier in this thread are a copy of these, but I don't see a nice shiny aluminum set so I'm after originals.

I asked to order these as I traded in my FJ so I think I should be entitled to order them as I was a TT owner at the time. They could not find the part listing or price so they have not been ordered yet. Unless they are some obscene price, I'll get these.
