Gearing issue need help

Ok here it goes. I have a v6 diff that I did a gear count on and came up with a ratio of 4.33333333 ect. I believe the count was ring 39 pinion 9. I have found many sites like 4crawler with stock gear charts and diff paint codes. My problem is nothing is adding up. The paint on the pinion end is orange. Which according to all the material I find is a pre 82' 4.11 but the count I did doesn't match up. I may have gotten it wrong. but this rear end spins my 33" mt like stock tires. The spedo is almost dead on and I got pull in 5th gear back. So I'm wondering if the later v6 third members have different paint codes or what. I just bought a 4.30 ifs front from pick-a-part to use in the front but I want to make sure this is right. HELP plese

I have just also performed the 2 spin tire test. Which came up with a 4.88 aproximate. Which makes more sence as to how the truck is performing

4.88 would have been stock ratio for 4 cyl/auto trans/31' tire package and V6/auto trans/31' tire package in the 80's.

You could always look at the axle code at the bottom of the VIN tag to get the factory stock ratio.

I got this thing in a deal so I can't check the vin tag. I'm thinking I may have miss counted when I had it out. Since I counted it at 39 ring and 9 pinion Nd the 4crawler site has the stock 4.87 at 39 ring and 8 pinion
