Gearing question.

Hey guys, next month I am ordering a set of 4.88's for my 1993 Runner on 33's, from what I looked at those are the correct gears for my tires. (I originally ordered the 5.29's by mistake.)

My question is I believe I will need to replace my pinion bearing soon, as there is a deceleration whine on my runner now and from what I have read / researched that seems to be the likely culprit... You think I can wait until my new gears finally come in? it will be a few more weeks at least.

If all it's doing is whining, I would wait. You have master install kits for your new gears coming too? You'll need them.

Yes sir! Thats actually whats holding up the shipment. I ordered 2 TG master install kits. I keep getting mixed reviews on TG stuff, but I hope they are quality. I havent ever done this before, in terms of replacing gears, I think I ordered the right kit. I got the 8in 4cyl kits and 4.88 TG Trail-creepers.

Not to question you, but you didn't order two 8" 4cyl setup kits did you? Unless you're SAS'd, you have a 7.5" front diff, so you don't want the 8" setup kit or ring and pinion for the front...

See, its been quite an adventure. So the good news is I have an EXTRA gear set and kit for my rear. :wacko:

If Trailgear won't cancel the order or take them back, you should be able to resell the extra stuff for damned close to what you paid. But I bet they'll take them back, they've got pretty good customer service.

I ordered them from 4weelparts.com they will refund the money but I will have to send them back when they get here. :yell: lol. Well this is how we learn I guess. Thank you for the link. Its nice to see them all in the package like that, I have not heard of that brand. It certainly is cheaper than what I paid!

USA Standard is Yukon's off brand. They're decent. And that guy on EBay has the best prices I saw last time I was shopping.
