Hi, as a new owner of a 4Runner I have some questions that hopefully will be answered.

1. Is the V6 all aluminum or iron block and aluminum heads?

2. Stock 4Runners from the factory have 9.6" of ground clearance. What is the water fording depth? My VW Touareg had 19.5" of water fording depth so I'm hoping the 4Runner will be similar.

3. What are the largest tires I can mount on my stock 17" rims. Can I go up to 275/70/17, 275/75/17, or 285/70/17 without rubbing or turning issues. When the stock tires wear out I plan on mounting all-terrain tires.

If you purchased a 5th gen you can find all of your answers in the 5th gen section (especially the wheel and tire questions, which have been answered in about 100 different threads). The quick answers...

#2: Approximately 30", which is just under the height of the tires. The air intake is located in the front right passenger side fender liner. This is when done with the proper care and driving technique as you could hydrolock your engine in a lot less if done at too high of speed, too slow of speed or getting stuck.

#3: 275 70 17 is likely the biggest you'll go without any rubbing through full compression and turning with the OEM factory Trail/TRD Off-Road or SR5 wheels. This is a general rule based off of wheel width and offset. The TRD Pro wheels for example have a different offset and usually rub at anything bigger than stock. It is also dependent upon your alignment specs as well as many other factors, so the consensus is every vehicle is a little bit different.

Do yourself a favor and get rid of the absolutely horrible stock tires before winter, you'll be glad you did. Mine came off at 326 miles, sold them to someone locally.
