Did you ever solve your audio feedback issue?
It sounds like an issue with your stereo grounds.
Does it have the issue when playing a CD and no phone is charging? Charging a device while playing audio can cause a loop even with good grounds.

I think it's a short in one of my RCAs cables..I was adjusting my cables around and it magically disappeared, but a few days later it came back :redbrick:

Sound System!
I was at my local Drive-in Auto Sound on Christmas eve and every thing was on sale. I probably could have gotten everything cheaper online, but the prices were decent so I pulled the trigger.

Rockford P3 12" 4Ohm Dual Voice coil sub- $100
Generic Made in China Ported and Carpeted Enlosure- $75
Kicker 500.1 watt mono amp- $100 (Brand new on Craigslist)
8 Gauge Wiring Kit- $50
Right now my door speakers are powered by a Kicker 500.4 which is connected to the Kicker 500.1 via RCAs. The previous owner also left me a distribution block underneath the seats so it was a piece of cake connecting the power wire to the new amp. After tweaking with the amp gain and bass level, I've finally got the bass to sound clean at high volume levels. I'm really impressed with the sound so far.
Here is how it looks currently. I'm trying to think of something to cover up the wires coming out of the side of the cargo area. My 500.4 amp is just laying behind my bag of random crap. I need to think of a place to re-mount it. It was mounted into the side were the cargo cover mounts, but I want to use it.

I also picked this up at AutoZone. Guy looked at me like I was an idiot when I asked if they had the ScanGuageII, luckily I noticed it on the wall behind the counter, or else the moron wouldn't have sold it to me...haha.
It was super easy to install and I really like it so far, If any one knows a better place to mount it let me know.

I love your Runner, man! Great color combo and proportions. I hope to eventually have something half as cool.
I asked this in another thread and got a bit of help but wanted to ask you as well. What type of bug deflector/shield is that on your hood? It looks different from the OEM version that Ripcord has. The main reason i ask is that I like the look of yours, but searching websites to buy these is difficult as they do not usually come with a good sample photo. Usually they only show one or 2 images on a generic car (usually a ford truck or something). Any help is appreciated.
Also, btw, I think I'm going to steal you black grille idea. I hope you don't mind. It looks excellent in combo with the Thundercloud paint job.

Hmm I thought all along it was an OEM bug shield, it has Toyota printed on it. But what do i know...
And I've enjoyed the black grille a lot. parts train has it for a good price. Just make sure you screw in your chrome Toyota logo from the stock grill before you install the grill. It doesn't just snap in like the 1st gen Tacoma I owned but the grill itself mounts the same exact way..

Ahhh the addition of a little bass is always welcomed... Something I still need to do!
Truck looks great and the ScanGuage is def. a handy device. Some guys pull out the ashtray and it fits perfectly in that location. Off the top of my head: check our Dirtco's build as I'm pretty sure he has done it.

Hey rickashay, thanks for stopping by my thread.
It's been a great addition! It's not obnoxiously loud, but I can feel it moving my hair on the right track..:laugh: My only worry is if I can build a sleeping platform that can work with the sub. I would miss it terribly during my 6 hour drive one way to Moab this May and possibly June...I'm thinking of either building the platform just high enough to clear the sub and ditch the drawer(s) (Not much headroom), or removing the lower half of the backseats and putting the sub on the floor right behind the driver or passenger seat. What would you do?
I also plan on putting a small CB radio in the ash tray location. Should look pretty clean. already have a mount on the front bumper waiting for an antenna

Sounds like you got some plans in the works! Have you though about laying the sub down so that it faces upwards? May work better this orientation if you plan on doing the sleeping platform. If not I say behind the drivers seat. I run without my rear seat bottoms in 8 months out of the year.... my 4Runner is pretty much a two seater.
EDIT: I see your sub box looks pretty square... yah pull that seat bottom and call it a day!

The other day I installed a new muffler. It's a Thrush Welded 2.25" inlet: center, outlet: offset. Let me know what you guys think. I think it sounds decent for a 35 dollar muffler.

I'm digging the t4r man. Just got a quick question: how big is the gap you have between the body and front bumper? I'm thinking of adding a body lift to mine and trying to bet a feel of what the gap will look like. Thanks

Sorry for the late reply, had no idea anyone posted on my build lately.
If I were you I would just order a 4x innovations plated front bumper online. He had around 600 in materials and would obviously charge a lot for the time it took him to make one. The 4x bumper would probably be cheaper and more professionally made. I love the way it looks.
