Geology fieldtrip across Namib Desert

4Runners aren't for sale in South Africa, so it was mostly Toyota Hilux pickups.
I wasn't driving, it was the outfitters.

For 5 days drove across the Namib Desert from Windhoek to Gobab Desert Research Station, then across dunes the size of mountains to the west coast, and then along the coast at low tide to Walvis Bay.

I hear Geology Fieldtrip... and the first thing I thought of was this.

But cool picts... I've spend a lot of time in the sand and dunes on ATVs and know its a real challenge. I'm still a bit hesitant to take my 4Runner deep into the dunes as recovery is very challenging, time consuming, and the risk of getting stuck is pretty dang high.
