GEORGIA meet up and trail run

Anyone in Georgia want to meet up and schedule a trail run for T4R and others? I don't know of any good trails... so any input or advice on places to go is welcomed. I was thinking that the Blue Ridge area must have some good ones, and other places up in App. Mtns.

I'd be up for a ride, depending on when. I live in Cumming. There is Durhamtown east of ATL, Beasley Knob and other forest roads in N GA. Or, there are some cool parks not too far away in Alabama. Not much "close", though. Let me know!
 
i was thinking of something up in N. GA. mtns area. does anyone know of any specific trails or parks up there? maybe we can get a few ones together and vote on a place and time.

I would love to do that. I have no idea what trails there are in the GA mtns but I would definitely be up for a trip up there
 
Hey! I live in Woodstock, I'd be up for it as long its something a stock 4runner (4x4) could handle.
 
There's a pretty good place in NC that you guys can go to. It's Uwharrie national forrest, in Troy, NC. 16 miles of trails. Its 5 hrs away from ATL, but just figured I'd throw it out there. Pretty knarly trails. there's also a place in western NC, near the base of the mountains, called Flatlands, but that's about all you'll find in NC...
 
I live in Gainesville which is about 25 mins south of dahlonaga. I have a map of all the forestry roads in the north ga mountains. Id meet up. Only thing is I'm 2wd haha
 
Haha I hear ya! Went with some buddies up to sheep wallow a few weeks ago. Only got stuck twice. One was because of 2 foot deep hole full of our red Georgia clay. Then the other was a three wheels stand haha. But I'm down to hit up some of the forestry roads in the mountains
 
the forestry roads in the mountains sounds good to me. when do you think we could do this? definitely some time before the summer's end though. the only place i know of is at Windermere which is off exit 13 (400) in cumming.
 
Hey Zanderman, where are the Windermere trails? I'm in Dawsonville, drive past Windermere everyday on my way to work. Could a stock 4x4 handle it?

If you go down Windermere Blvd until you see the new Ace Hardware, turn at the light right there (in b/t Ace & fitness center - left if you're coming south), and just go straight...road turns dirt and you can access everything from there. FYI...these ARE NOT LEGAL TRAILS. In other words, it's private property and we don't have permission. I have ridden them as well, but feel the need to sneak in and out.

Most stuff in there is stock-friendly, although if it's wet, there is serious mud in some areas. Do not go alone or without a winch if you plan on getting in the mud after some rain. You can easily get stuck in that muck.
 
Ditto to what dragonATL said. windermere shouldn't be a problem to stock 4x4 in dry, normal, and damp conditions but after a rain...there are some serious mud bogs. i am really interested in finding trails up in the blue ridge and App. Mtn. area so if anyone hears anything about one, please let me know.
 
I'm interesting depending on schedule. I don't have much (any) knowledge of the trails in the area. I have a stock '00 Limited 4X4 but street tires so similar to 2WD in vehicle ability. No clue as to my skills, really; never wheeled in a group.
