Hi--I have owned a 4-Runner '97 with 5 spd manual transmission since 2007 (second owner.) It had been well-maintained in the past and I have continued to maintain it--oil changes every 2500-3000 miles (the oil is clear as honey!), etc. Brakes and a new set of tires are pretty much all I've had to do to it. I am planning on driving it across the country within the next couple of weeks. I have to have a hitch installed in order to tow a 5X8 enclosed trailer. recently, I've noticed that it has become harder to put the truck into reverse from first gear, and from reverse to first gear. I have not yet replaced the clutch, nor had it adjusted. Do you suggest that I get a transmission cooler, too (I'm taking the more northern route across country I40)? I have a mechanic that is going to check my truck out before the trip. Do you have any suggestions for helping to make my trip as problem-free as possible? Thank you! sallred
