For those doing the installation themselves, some T4R's models already have stainless steel exhaust pipes rom the "cat" and if you have to cut I would recommend de-burring the exhaust pipe and cleaning it with some emery cloth and applying some anti-seize, since stainless on stainless will gall. By applying some anti-seize you can position the new muffler easier without fighting it. It'll slide.

I see on their website they are offering a $75 on certain items until August, but my computer crashes everytime I try to access the rebate. Do you know if it applies to this system?
Also, there is no need to cut this correct? I saw an earlier response where a member was uncertain where to cut. I like the idea of a total DIY and don't know how to weld.
I believe cutting only applies to those with Cali emissions (dual Cats).

Reviving a several month old thread, but I am wondering if there might be a weight-savings here.
Anyone weigh the factory catback removed and compared it to this replacement?
From past experience, aftermkt catbacks have shed anywhere from 15 to 40 pounds, which is a pretty nice side benefit...

I can tell you that factory system is huge! It's the size of a coffin, lol. This definitely has to be twice a light, not kidding. I don't know the weight of the factory system, but I can tell when when I removed mine, it was super heavy. The factory muffler is ridiculously huuuuuge. I never thought of the weight savings, but you make a good point, since it's considerably lighter.

Thanks Jason.
When I was down there changing diff and transfer case fluids, the fuel filter most recently, I was mesmerized at the size of the stock system!
Jason, shipping-wise, what does the Gibson box weigh?
Anyone else who has removed the stock catback, have a weight figure?
If I do indeed decide to go this route, I'll be sure to note the weight delta. From what I've seen, I'd say at least 20 pounds, likely more, maybe much more...

Thought about it, but for various reasons will not. I'm pretty convinced the weight difference will be nice. Curious though. I imagine someone has the stock catback in the garage or shed. I do, for another car...

I can tell you the shipping weight with box and all materials is 35lbs total for the Gibson. My guess is the Gibson weighs probably 40 lbs less than stock. I bet I'm close.
