Actually, ordered an extra couple flanges with bolts from LCE and welded one onto motor side of the cat to bolt the headers up to. Suckers are tight
Edit: Oops, you're probably talking about 3.4 headers, heh...
I have no doubt the 3rz pipes are different, definitely can't pinch the gibson pipe to 2 1/8", so adapter needed, or replace the headpipe from the cat with custom fab.

Here's a happy ending you don't hear much: went to the stealership to get my rear diff leak checked out, expecting breather valve and pinion seal replacement. Dropped the car, went to have breakfast, came back expecting an expensive diagnosis and it turned out the car was already done. Only had to replace the gasket around the valve. 90$ and an hour later, gasket, new gear oil and I'm gone. COuldn't believe it. If I trusted myself at all mechanically, the repair prolly woulda run me 20$.

i added the hitch after the exhaust and yeah, it would've contacted it but i just notched the hitch a tad and it hasn't touched.
i have had several exhausts on other vehicles that droned to the point of headaches and the like. This is nothing like that, i feel like its just the right volume because its not annoying but you can hear it and the tone is deep. i've only hit that v6 pang like once and it was when i was trying to get over an obstacle offroading.

Yep, this is a nice smooth sound. Quality with not being loud. I've had my truck for over 20 years and have heard EVERY single exhaust just about. Back in the day, when TRD made exhausts for this truck (they didn't make them, they would private label companies to make them) if you ever heard any, sounds similar to that tone, which again, not loud but a quality throaty sound. If anything, any other aftermarket exhaust would be louder. The factory system is too quiet, whisper quiet with no tone at all. This just makes it how it should have been originally.

Just ordered this. I just took a look my factory muffler and I thought it looked fine, until I touched it with MY FINGER and it went through it!!! Rotted from the inside out! This can't just be me. thanks

I have a Gibson for my Tacoma, and it includes a 24" long muffler. I was hoping to use something shorter (the factory one is 16", I believe?) for some hi-clearance tucking that I'm doing. From the photos in the thread, it looks like the 4Runner muffler is longer still - does Gibson make a SS muffler that is shorter than the 24" one that they supply for the first generation Tacoma?

Yes it does. I've heard every single system on these trucks pretty much, as I've had my truck now for over 20 years! lol. Did you install yet?

Hey Jason and anyone else who may be able to shed light on this, I would really like to order up this system to replace my leaky original exhaust but am hoping for some clarification on how it fits up to the dual cat models.
Is there trimming required? If so is it as simple as getting a square cut, or would the trimmed section then need to be flared?
Surely someone here can offer first hand testimonial, thanks in advance!
