I wanted a deep rumble when I normally drove(rpms below 4K)without drone which was not too loud. I wanted it to quiet down when I punched it because I do want all the attention from .

Gibson met this requirement.

Bad

On my limited, the fit was crap. No clearance what’s so ever. After the install by my off road shop, the exhaust was hitting the heat shield and tip was below the bumper.

I had to take it to a muffler shop who heated the hanger for the tail portion which fixed the low hanging issue but made the rattle worse(exhaust hitting rear subframe). Then they would not fix the rattle.

Took it a different muffler shop recommended by Beartrax(really good reputable shop in DFW area) and they pretty much had to cut the exhaust and weld it to allow for clearance. They worked on it for 1.5 hours to make it all fit and did a great job. Now there is no rattle and exhaust sounds good.

I’d also love to see pics and thanks so much for sharing your experience. It’s pretty disappointing to hear so many people have fitment issues. The price on this system is great but the hassle may negate the cost savings versus other systems.

Bumping this old thread as I have a 2020 Limited and am looking at this exhaust system. Sound like I'll need an extended hanger for the rear hanger? is anything else required to fit this system on a limited? I went through this whole thread and seems like there's a lot of issues with rattling? I'm worried that with the limited, i will have to use the extended hanger, and this will increase the chances of rattles coming from this system.

I don't have a limited but I just installed this system about 2 months ago. I had rattling due to the clamps not getting tight enough and the "U" section pipe over the axle twisting and sitting on the metal cross beam above the axle. I went to a muffler shop and had them do two tack welds on the exit part of the muffler to keep that "U" pipe from twisting and it was worked perfectly for me. I am very happy with it.

Gibson lists this system as not fitting a LIMITED model, it fits all others trim levels, but we found a fix. I found out a while back with another customer witha limited. You'll need an extra long rubber hangar piece to make it work. Again, if you have a LImited, you'll need this: Advance Auto Parts rubber hangar extension

Gibson lists this system as not fitting a LIMITED model, it fits all others trim levels, but we found a fix. I found out a while back with another customer witha limited. You'll need an extra long rubber hangar piece to make it work. Again, if you have a LImited, you'll need this: Advance Auto Parts rubber hangar extension

i've had mine for over a year. I have the stainless system with the dual side exit which apparently is a more aggressive deeper tone. It drones at low Rpm around 1500-2000 i think i don't really notice anymore.

the fit and finish leaves alot to be desired, the black powder coat on the tip/tailpipe is terrible and is flaking off in places, and is already discoloured/rusting in spots. This is only through one winter and we don't get alot of salt here in vancouver. I'm also incredibly meticulous when it comes to cleaning so its never been neglected.

but keep in mind this is a 500dollar system you get what you pay for, i don't regret buying it at all. I just have to pull the tailpipe and repaint it one day.

don't do it. it rattles and rusts like nobody's business.
I am still pissed that I wasted money on their "high end stainless steel" version.

That's interesting, they claim a "lifetime warranty" on the high end version, have you reached out to them?

I was curious about getting one but wasn't sure if it would work with my RCI skidplates. and now this ^

they did not honor the warranty.
it was rusted so badly, that we had to cut it out of the truck and torch the bolts.
Oh, and they don't make the proper 5th gen model, it is a 4th gen; has very similar fitments, but the tip hangs way low, and needs to be custom adjusted.
for a few bucks more you can get a great Borla system that's been absolutely wonderful to me so far.

Also, as for the tone or sound change - Gibson does not pack their mufflers therefor the sound will never change - adding an intake or other exhaust mods will however make a smoother sound.

Regarding your tip, contact warranty/tech Dept at Gibson by using [email protected] - they will need a copy the Original Invoice and images of the issue. Mention Jason Burtman told you to email and then will help you out. I talked with my rep yesterday and won’t be an issue. (edited this post as there was a typo in the email)
