Gibson Catback Exhaust on 03' V8?

Has anyone installed one on an 03'? I read older threads and even though Gibson states they're only compatible for 04+, some users stated 618707 fits on their 03'. Given that knowledge, I found they also made 618708 that fits 4th Gens. I assumed it would also fit an 03', but I tried installing it today and it seems the headpipe portion is too short? I read that this is the only difference between the two models, but didn't think it would affect install.


Edit: Might've found the answer, the headpipe was shortened for 05+ models with VVTI. The 618707 model was discontinued and seems to have been replaced by 618815. Looking at the installation manual, the headpipe portion is the same part #, so I'm guessing 618815 will fit an 03'. Guess I'll return the other and try getting that.

Yeah, I ran into that thread. The Burtman site doesn't seem to give you the Gibson item # after selecting the options. The 03' seems to be left out on the main Gibson site and the earliest year is the 04'. Given that the updated item # (618815) to the old 618707 has the same headpipe, I'm guessing this is the one I was supposed to get since some old members installed the 618707 on their 03' and had no problem. I also didn't realize these also fit 5th gens.

Update, I purchased the #618815 and it fits an 03' V8 4Runner, they actually included two different length head pipes in this kit, which was nice. For those who also installed a Gibson or other aftermarket exhausts, how did you get the spring to go back on? It seems like the bolts Gibson supplied won't reach with the spring inserted in, but that's all they include, bolts and some washers, no replacement spring. Are you suppose to reuse the old springs?
