Glove Box Key

I have a 91 3.0 v6 4runner which does not have a key to lock the glove compartment or the arm rest unlike the Terrano. This is a flaw in the construction of the 4runner as there is no where one can hide private documents or money in the car.
If the car is broken into (God forbid), the intruder will have easy access to one's personal effects.
Which make of car or model of 4runner has a lockable glove box ? Or is it possible to construct a key on the one I have without any damage?
Group members experiences and ideas will be appreciated.

So you does your glove box have a key hole in it? I know when I bought my 2K4 4Runner they gave me 3 keys. Two original keys and one valet key. The valet key can do everything the regular keys can, but it cannot open the glove box. The valet key has a grey rubber handle while the originals are black. If you need the originals, Toyota will probably be able to cut it by using the your VIN. Let us know how it goes.

No lock box? Use a can safe!

Dude, let's be realistic here. If someone is going to go through the trouble breaking into your car for theft, or to rumage through your sh*t, do you honestly think a locked glove compartment is really going to stop them? Seriously, I have a kick ass crow bar that will pop any glove compartment open in seconds.

I have a 93 and the glove box has a lock on it. If yours does you use the ignition key to lock and unlock it.

Your armrest box does not lock.
