Glove Box Removal 2004 4Runner Limited

Hi, I need a quick answer as I'm in the Northeast, in my unheated garage, it is 27 degrees and dropping fast!
I'm trying to get my glovebox removed. I have got the top loosened, I don't see a screw on the right side as other posts have said there should be but I think I see where the screw was supposed to be (first photo). So now the box is hanging down. The TSB I have for the blower motor says to "lift straight up" to remove. But it ain't comin! I'm afraid to force it and break something. Are the hinges on the left and right bottom of the box shown in the photos open ended so that the box is just a press fit? How do I get this off?

On my 08, from the point where you have it, keep rotating the door down. It'll pop the hinges off. It feels a little uneasy, like you're gonna break it but the hinges are like C-clamps. A little more pressure and they'll release.

On my 04, just had it out last month, give it a good tug should come off! Well you prob have to push down a lil like dawg said

Thanks. I put everything back together to fight another day. I'll try again when my blower motor comes in. At least I got this one working again.
Sparky, do you have a screw on the right hand side or is that just an unused feature from an earlier design? I don't see anything that should attach there.

The screw on the right side is for a little cylindrical damper that lets the g box open slowly/smoothly. It's a little tricky to get it back on if it falls off its top mount. I'm betting someone left it off after an A/C filter change.

Let us know how loud your new blower motor is.

Mine is loud enough that I'm thinking of repairing the old one, or at least trying the brush spring damping fix on the new one. The old one had a bad bird chirp noise the new one is just a steady whine that varies with motor speed.

I've put sound absorber mat on all the places that might work but the noise comes through the vents still.

Screws in the top left and right corners, outside the compartment. Use a magnetic driver. Then shut halfway and pull that bad boy out!

he just needs to open the g box almost all the way and tug on it

the bottom nylon tabs will let go

When I was changing a Cabin air filter, at this time i accidentally damaged this Valve.... Which controls the Airflow from the outside




have any instructions ?? on how to accsess and disassemble the panel to change or just to fix this part ????
