Goal Zero Generators

Everything they have is on special today. It is just I don't need anything of theirs. So far, I bought some Maxxskids, a recovery kit from Ironman, and my woman bought a hat.

Picked up these goodies @ Costco today :) apparently Costco will give an extra year warranty, can't beat that!!!

We were running the inverter on my truck all day charging shit and running my compressor to blow up everyones air mattresses so I had the Nomad 27 panel and Guardian Charge controller trickle charging the batts on my rig.

Sorry, that was my mistake, that is actually an Escape 30 panel, I fixed the post.

The escape 30 is my buddies, I personally like my boulder 30 panel over the escape panel.

I have a little trick to show you guys where to store the boulder 30 panel as soon as I get back into town. :dance:

Did ya stick it where the sun don't shine? But then how are the solar panels gonna charge?

I'm more so interested in how to mount it on my truck to have it charge the 350 while out hiking and such... I have stock roof rack for now :(

I'm kind of resurrecting this thread to see how the GoalZero stuff has held up? Long term test/use kinda thing...

I've read a mixed bag of reviews ranging from "I love this stuff" to "Don't buy this crap." - Any thoughts or stories to share?

My Yeti 150 has been rock solid

I bought a Yeti 1250 for work a couple years ago, it is still going strong and it gets abused (for example they were using it to run a impact drill to drill into asphalt and concrete)

I have heard bad things about buying them from Costco or large retailers, the batteries need to be kept plugged in for maximum life and people have found units on shelves at costco that were already a year old which then had battery problems.

I'm considering a Yeti 400 to power my fridge overnight in the summertime

No regrets.. If you can buy from Costco, they give you up to 5 years to return it. Goal Zero does a road show once a year. Google "Goal zero Costco road show"

Never had a problem and I rarely run out of juice with my 450.

I hope they make solar auto-battery charging kits one day.

I bought a Yeti 400 a few months ago and use it to run my ARB fridge. I keep the Yeti plugged in to the outlet in the back of the 4Runner. Have had it out on 4 or 5 trips and it's working great.

how long does it run on the 400? what kinds of ambient temps?
 
Thanks for the info All! I appreciate the quick responses :)

I'm trying to decide on what I need for camping/overland excursions so reliability is paramount. I've been admiring the GZ stuff from afar, and they're on sale at the moment with a pretty decent discount, but recent reviews have got me reevaluating my options.

Another member or two have used some Renogy stuff (@RiDE I think...) so I'm looking at their solutions as well.

For the times I've used it, the fridge has run overnight taking the battery down to about 30-40%. I would say about 12 hours. Low ambient temps, say mid 40s. I keep the battery plugged into the Runner and keep it charging and topped off while I'm driving. Keep the fridge plugged into the Yeti and always powered on.
