Gobi Light Bar Install Dilemma

Still would appreciate some advice. I have a 2015 Trail Premium. I dont know that best way to run the wire from under hood to rear latch groomet. How do I run the wire? How do I remove the head liner and post liner.

Don't go through the headliner, from then engine compartment go into the cab through the driver side firewall grommet and then down the drivers side door seals (front to rear) the only panels that you need to pull are the driver side front and rear door sills, the panel above the drivers side wheel well, the jack compartment cover and then remove the three tabs at the rear most points of the headliner. I can take some photos later tomorrow to help clarify

I have a custom bracket for my Light Bar to mount on my Gobi Rack. Wish I knew about Gobi having brackets for 40" bars.

Since Gobi sent me the wrong rack Ive been going back and forth with them regarding fabricating a custom bracket to hold the light bar that will clear the vertical supports. Still waiting for it to come in but in the mean time went ahead and mounted the light bar with some L brackets. Got everything wired with the standard connectors because i wanted to be able to remove the lights and rack if need be. Wires were routed through the factory grommets in the spoiler.

hope this helps. All the wires run along the rack to that corner.

For someone about to pull the trigger on a rack and lights, this is great! Thank you everyone!

I spend days and nights searching for answers, and almost always find them. Trouble is, during that process I stumble upon a bunch of other things that take me down a bunch of rabbit trails and it ends up being difficult to condense and assemble answers. The more I read and get this info into my brain, the better. I just keep getting sucked into great mods that people have shared and I'm off to the next group buy

Nice pic of the back end, just what I was looking for! And you ran that wire through the hatch gourmet and along the door sills to the switch, and power through the firewall gourmet correct?

The L brackets are a nice easy way to mount the light bar. That's how I did mine. But I am looking at doing something more sturdy and fool proof so that it's harder to tamper with it so no one gets any funny ideas.

Yea i think these are a one off since it had to be made to clear the vertical supports in the front. I havent seen anyone else with anything like this. Also, I dont think there is any part number for the brackets. Ive seen a few people with different ones. They make them specifically for the bar you are using so if you specify you are installing a light bar when you order and know the SKU number (im pretty sure only for Rigid) they will make it for that bar. And yes i did angle the brackets so it will sit flush with the mount. I would definitely give Gobi a call if you are interested.

do you know if running through the rear hatch, you can use the rear 400 watt plug as a power source ? and using the dash button as an on off switch? I know might sound dumb as hell, but I have been pondering on this and me and electricity just don't get along.

Quick answer, No. If you can it would required more work and wiring then just running wires to the back. Lots of reasons why, your light is 12v (assuming) and anything after the invertor is 120v, plug included, my guess is that switch controls the inverter being on and off not actually killing 12v power to it so even if you spiced into/removed the inverter feed wires I doubt that switch would control that feed.

Get yourself a plastic pry bar and you can have wires ran from the engine bay to the back jack compartment in under an hour by following the driver side door kick panels if you have specific questions try searching and if you cant find answers feel free to PM me.

Thinking about ordering a Gobi Rack, and just wondering how the adjustable cross bars have been working out for those who have used them? Also how deep is the rack, as in between the the grate/floor of the rack and the top of the top bars? I know its a low profile rack, but would anyone after using the rack for a while request Gobi to make a custom rack thats deeper? Thank you for any advise.

I can't answer this for you, but check and possibly repost in this thread and you might get some better answers. Some members also mention how they like the cross bars.

Adjustable cross bars work great, I wouldn't order it any other way.

Gobi makes the ranger which has taller sides (a deeper basket) if that's what you are looking for. Personally I see limited need unless you are storing really tall boxes up there often, and even then a good set of straps would keep things attached.
