I have a Yakima cargo carrier that works with the stock roof rails... looks similar to this...

I also noticed in this picture you can get crossbars on these racks too, that look like this. But in this picture its built in, and not removable...

I see they make removable crossbars as well, but it doesnt say anywhere if its for load carrying... can I still use this removable bar with a Yakima carrier?

I've spent some time on the phone with Gobi working out the details of my order that I just finalized. Removable crossbars are a free option and it also means you get full-length mesh, other than the sunroof opening if you go that route. You might want to consider the no-rise option so that there is no interference with your cargo box. That's $150 additional from Gobi although it sounds like people are getting it for free through Trail Duty.

I got my rack direct from Gobi in November 2015, and the no rise option was not an extra charge. Has Gobi started charging extra for that?

GOBI charged me $165 for the no rise option.

And just like they said ^ if you get removable crossbars, you get a giant 1-piece mesh floor and a sunroof cutout. It's the way to go for sure

The bars are too far back for the front of the rack to interfere with the rooftop boxes. Maybe except the super long ones. I have a big thule and it doesnt get close to the front. I wish that there was a closer bar up front so when the rooftop box is mounted I can utilize other parts of the rack. Right now my options are prety limited.

I didnt even think of that... rise vs no rise...

This is the exact box that I have, it starts to curve up a little towards the front... do you think I can get away with a rise rack?

I'm also planning on eventually getting one with adjustable bars, sunroof opening, and no-rise in the front. Aren't the adjustable bars rated for less weight? Something about not recommended for a RTT? Anyone have experience making it work anyway? I don't have a RTT but I'd like to know if I'm really sacrificing that possibility down the road in exchange for flexibility in cross-bar position/presence.
