Gobi Stealth - 40" LED bar - yes or no?

I've settled on ordering a Gobi stealth, but I'm having a hard time deciding whether or not to get it 40"-ready. I'd like to get a 40" eventually, but it'll be quite some time before my live-in financial advisor gives me a green light -- if ever. I guess the big question is, how odd would it be to drive around without the two little support tubes up front for an indefinite amount of time?

So, do I order my rack 40"-ready, or do I go standard and add multi-piece LEDs down the road? What says the forum?

My personal plan is to piece together a couple of 10 and 6 inch LED light bars (two 6 and one 10). WAY cheaper than a 40 and plenty of light for me. If you still plan on getting a larger, perhaps mounting something in the grill would be a way to go. Plenty of people have mounted a 30 in the front grill with excellent results. My personal opinion is that anything bigger than a 30 up top tends to look a bit garish, but thats a matter of taste. I would think that since you purchased a Gobi Stealth, you would want something relatively low key and low profile.

As far as cost goes, Chas with TotalAutomotivePerformance has great connections and can offer some unbeatable discounts on RIGID and BajaDesigns. I wouldn't buy from anyone else. PM me and i'll give you his info if you like.

I got my light bar for a steal, then did the gobi afterwards. Here is a picture.


It's awesome and I can't believe the light output. If only I could have it on when i go to work in the morning....

I would get it light bar ready. I doubt anyone will notice its lacking something in that spot. They will instead drool over the rack itself.

If you're on a budget consider a cheaper knock-off light bar like this one or this one.

I got the OPT7 and I like it. It's sturdy and weatherproof (enough for me), and the optics are decent. It doesn't compare to Rigid, but maybe you don't need something quite that good.

Get it 40" ready if you even think its a possibility. I have not mounted my 40" bar yet and have driven around for weeks and never once thought it looked odd, with everything else you won't even notice.

Also I advise getting full mesh floor and removable cross bars

I purposely went in-expensive because during my last few trips overlanding i've hit tree's that were low hanging. I think i would commit suicide if I hit a rigid LEDbar off road as its 1200.00 to replace...Now I have my D2's on my ARB, those are rigids and they are SO awesome!!! Rigid's optics are a true one of a kind. If i was made of money, I would only use Rigid, fly my 4runner to W.E.R.O.C.K.. and be the first with a SAS supercharger because I would own URD=)

Just FYI, I have a perfect condition Rigid 40" RDS Curved LED Bar for sale. I swapped mine out for the midnight series, it will come with brand new harness and mounting hardware.

It's hard to tell but is there usable mounting/resting points on your front rack bar over your 40" lightbar to support stuff the full length of the rack or will it rest on the lightbar itself? I'm thinking stuff like 2x4s, plywood sheets, an upside down canoe or even axle mounts for mountain bikes?

I've got a Rigid 40" SR2 for sale. Brand new in the original box with harness, manual and mounting brackets. Never used. $900+shipping.
