gobi stealth vs ranger

alright folks,

getting close to ordering a rack from RiDe, just got a bit more to save up :frog:

i'm trying to decide between the ranger and the stealth. i like how the ranger has the higher sidewalls but am concerned about getting into garages and underground parking.

anyone have or know where i can find the respective dimensions for each of these racks?

is the ranger the same height as the stealth at its highest point (light bar) just with taller side walls?

thanks guys

Gobi stealth is FTW. If you get the ranger, you better plan on never taking that vehicle in any kind of garage ever again, especially if you lift it.

Mmmmmmmm... gobi stealth..

lol,

thanks man. i figured that was going to be the case and i'd have to go with the stealth vs the ranger.

do you guys with the stealth have any problems keeping gear up there with the lower sidewalls?

have to say that was the fastest response to a post i've ever gotten on t4r lol

I haven't ran into any problems, you just need to strap whatever you're carrying down with some ratchet straps.

awesome.

also, i wanted to mount a set of IPF968CSG's to the mounts on the stealth.

they're 7 inch round lights, think they'll fit?

Glad that helped!

Yeah, I actually just ordered a Stealth this morning! Sandra at Gobi is very helpful and knowledgeable if you can get hold of her. (They are pretty busy there.)

Gobi actually works with PIAA and Rigid Industries on their lights. She ordered some Rigid LED's for me and are even going to do the install... I am fortunate that they are only about 20 miles from me here in Colorado.

On the other hand, unfortunately PIAA and Rigid are both on back order. Right now they can deliver the Stealth before either of the light options. And I guess another unfortunate thing is that the lights are going to cost more than the Stealth itself... doh! But, as you see in the awesome photo 4-ripcord posted up... it's gonna be killer

Yea those round lights will only work with the ranger, the stealth will hold lower profile rectangle lights. I've seen people use PIAA, Hellas, KC's, and of course rigids.

thanks for the info,

since i have 4 of the round lights already i'm going to see if it can fit them somehow, maybe go into the shop and make some brackets out of aluminum.

thanks again guys. looks like i'll be going with the stealth since the lowest height parking lot i have to squeeze into is 6'6" and the gobi stealth on the 4runner is 6'4".

I went with the budget option and put some Hella Micro FF's on mine. But the Ridgid setup that Ducmonsta has on his is on my wishlist. that adds a zero though compared to the 4 Hella's I have now

Okki

I would recommend the Stealth if you're concerned about getting into garages. I feel the sidewalls of the Stealth will be enough to keep cargo on the rack. Like others have said, you have to tie everything down anyway so there's no need for the taller sidewalls of the Ranger.

Just let me know when you're ready. :)

just got a little more saving to do and i'll be emailing you shortly for an order and an invoice plus payment info :D

Lol thanks

Still torn between the stealth and the ranger.

The ranger with the hella looks really good

It would look to me that the antenna is still above the whole mess up there!

This probably doesn't help but my FJ Cruiser was lifted (OME 3") with roof rack and storage box and the only thing that ever hit the celling was the CB antenna, and it was the highest thing on that truck...

Edit: I don't go into parking garage very often ;):
