Gobi vs Bajarack shipping time?

TD MAY be willing to waive the no-rise option costs is you so choose to go that route. ;)

I have been thinking about selling my Gobi rack. Has full mesh floor, two adjustable cross bars, wind fairing, axe and shovel locking mounts, ladder, and upgraded rear hatch shocks. I am located in the Atlanta area if someone is interested.

Finally! Like many others just got a call from freight shipper that rack is on the ground and ready to be delivered today, no prior notice from Gobi but couldn’t care less :dancin: For reference for all those in waiting ordered through TD 8/4 so the rack came in 17-18 weeks for me, definitely a few weeks earlier than expected so hang in there guys! Will post pics once installed.
 
Got caught up with my install and other mod last weekend...mine arrived exactly 20 weeks from the date my order was finalized. Here it is before I got the fairing on (which makes a HUGE difference - drove it first night without, and then next day after it was installed, and no comparison in noise level):

Taking Delivery in a few hours!!

I too received no notice from Gobi, just received a call from the freight company.

So, approximately 11 weeks through Trail Duty.

Installing this weekend :dancin:

EDIT: Forgot to Mention I ordered 9/25 just for reference.

Plus I was having second thoughts about the decreased mileage, wind noise, and not being able to fit in the parking garages. TD said they would take care of it but I never got a confirmation that they would refund my money until this morning. They said they would mail me a check and asked to confirm my mailing address.

I kid you not - no more than 15 minutes after me confirming my address, I get a voicemail from the local shipping company saying that my rack has arrived and they want to confirm a delivery time. (22 weeks wait time btw).

I was going to go with the new SSO aluminum rack or keep my money and go with nothing, but now I am torn. Is this a sign that I should just keep the Gobi? What would you do if you were in my shoes?

[I know this is a personal decision but what the hey, I am easily influenced by group opinion.]

Update: I have decided to keep the rack! After the 3 reminder calls from the delivery company, a supposed check is in the mail from Trail Duty but never arrived, and seeing a local 4Runner with a Gobi Stealth installed when I was driving into work - I considered it was a sign and meant to be. I took delivery yesterday and will install this weekend. I unpacked it last night to store in the garage and she sure was purty!

Good for you guys. Looks like Gobi is getting caught up starting with August orders.

I have a local install set for 1/17/18 and ordered on 07/26/17. From confirming an install time it was about 21 weeks in all.

Looking forward to it for sure.
 
Baja Rack shipping time is fast

I have the Baja Racks Flat Utility Rack. Cross rails not mesh and no sunroof opening. Because I don't have a sunroof. I like the flat rack a lot more than the Gobi Stealth or Baja Rack basket style. I got it in short time considering it was ordered with a group buy about a year ago.
I ordered the Baja Rack 5th Gen ladder about 3 weeks ago. Yesterday they confirmed it will ship on or about January 19th. Is that about 8 weeks - during the Christmas holidays? I like the Baja Rack ladder more than the Gobi.
 
Anyone here who got or is waiting for their rack ordered the week of 8/14 through Trailduty. I ordered mine on 8/14 and am still waiting for it. I was hoping I would get it this week based on the recent updates here by members based on their timelines, but so far nothing![emoji35]

Atleast you got an email! But nothing on my order from them. The only email I got was about their holiday schedule and their unavailability through the end of this year for status enquiries [emoji20]. Just wanted to see if anyone else was in a similar situation and got their rack with the similar timeline.

Finally got a call from the delivery guys to schedule it for Jan 3rd! [emoji3] Stoked!!!

Puts me right at ~ 20 weeks from order date although some members have some better timelines in receiving them than me.

While Gobi makes a nice product, I cant fathom waiting 18-20 weeks.

There are alternatives.

I ordered a K9 Alum no drill, full length rack and got in in a week. Did I mention its Alum so it wont ever rust. Also it doesn't make much wind noise.

The slats have channels so you can drop in a bolt head anywhere and add accessories or anchor points. Well thought out product that is readily available.

Surprisingly they are manufactured in South Africa, yet readily available here in the states. Equipt in Utah called immediately after placing my order and followed up to tell what day it shipped.

It so far has stood up to hauling a 200lbs RTT, plus another 50lbs of gear while trail running in SW Colorado and Moab. We did a 30 day trip from Oregon, thru Idaho, Wyoming, Utah, and Colorado, all on dirt or secondary roads. Only did 6 miles of highway outside of Grand Junction.

The Gobi looks good and is a solid product, the deficit is the insane lead time.
 
I ordered mine on 9-5 and it was delivered on 12-26. I never called them. I never emailed them. I never tried to check up on the status in any way. I have no complaints at all about their service. I knew what to expect before I ordered.
My rack is still in the box and it is for sale. I decided I don't need it and would rather have a nice trailer instead that is way more functional. It is posted in the classifieds.
