Gobi vs Bajarack shipping time?

Ordered a Baja Rack 5th Gen Ladder on May 22nd and they sent out an email a day later that stated my ladder wouldn't ship out till the 30 of June. Wouldn't have though it'd take that long, but we'll see how long it takes to get here from the shipping date they stated.

I just ordered a couple weeks ago and was told the end of July - so similar wait.

I can acknowledge Gobi makes a great rack, but I can't faithfully put my money into a company that has wait times so long it's become the forum joke and notoriously shitty customer service.

Heaven forbid they hire a few people and get a stock of racks built up.

DONT WORRY GOBI - YOULL HAVE NO PROBLEM SELLING ALL THE RACKS YOU MAKE.

I placed my order on March 6th. After a few calls to pester them about an ETA, they called to set up my install. The first available is August 2nd. 17 weeks to build, if its is actually finished (I didn't think to ask) 22 weeks if you count waiting for the install.

Are they nearby? You should swing by and check out the shop of the company with one of the best quality racks with the most notoriously terrible wait times/customer service..

Ordered a BajaRacks ladder from TRDparts4U April 21st with a estimated lead time of 4 weeks. 10 weeks later it still hasnt shipped. They've given me no updates and won't answer my emails. TRDparts4U has been amazing by contacting me and trying to contact BajaRack but no luck. Crazy how it takes one company almost as long to make a ladder as it takes another company to make an entire rack.

Hey man,

I did get my ladder. I ordered it April 21 and got it June 28. So a little over two months. Build quality is excellent. I love the look of the offset. Very easy install.

Cons of it all: the ladder had a paint chip on the top of it. And customer service was awful.

It might be different ordering direct from them. But they never reached out to me regarding a delay in the build. They never sent me a tracking number. Never let me know it shipped. Never replied to my email where I asked for an update. Only called them once and it was after 5 weeks and they didn't know what was taking so long and would get back to me and never did.

All in all I would base the ladder purchase off of the look. I still like the baja more than the gobi. But I will definitely not be purchasing a roof rack from either of them.

I ordered a Gobi in April, cancelled my order a few days ago and ordered a frontrunner slimline II which shipped same day. Tracking shows it arriving a week from now...I wasted so much time on Gobi.

I ordered mine from GOBI directly 2 weeks ago and the GOBI employee I spoke with told me to expect 14 weeks, but said they were telling customers 12-16... I cancelled later that week and they acted as though they could care less. Don't get me wrong, I had terrific customer service but in my world hinging my trip and need for the rack on a unknown shipping date that could potentially cancel the trip with zero to negative time left for installation was not going to work for me. If Trail Duty is telling you 8-12 cool, but if your life plans cannot allow an extra 2 month wait... you know the rest.

Appreciate the heads up. I don't currently have any trips hinging on the rack, so I'm ok with waiting. I'd rather not wait this long for anything, i'm impatient, but it seems to be a way of life with these racks.

Gobi Rack Wait Time

I ordered direct from Gobi in Mid-April. I called them on phone several days later to pay for it since they hadn't called me yet. I got right through, had all questions answered, and had email confirmation shortly thereafter.

I was quoted 8-12 weeks.

I called last week to get status (approaching 12 week mark soon) and sent email - no response yet to either.

This has been crazy for me since I'm having to "make due" with factory cross bars in the meantime and it sucks bad. I also can't see crap at night off road until the light bar is installed.

All I know is this rack better be worth it for this price and wait time. Considering I have personally designed and built racks myself in my younger days, I'll know what to look for when/if this thing arrives.

So you hadn't paid but were under the assumption that you would be charged once you received the rack? (all this before you cancelled of course).

I'd like to go the Baja route but I feel like the side rails on the Gobi are kind of important with what I want to toss up there. I don't like the non-flat Baja rack otherwise or any of the other options as much as the looks/functionality of the Gobi. I wish the Slimline wasn't so damn ugly (in my opinion) because, damn, they have accessories for everything!

But damn, that Gobi lead time...

But if I didn't have to pay until three months from now, well that would be kind of nice since I'm not really in a rush anyway.

It was after two night s of initial stress that it would not get done before my trip that I called and stopped the order.

Presently I am having a gentleman fab up a rack that is similar to the stealth, but customized to add a couple features specific to my need & desire... all for 70% less and expected completion 5-6 weeks from start. There are options out there, just need to be a bit creative if you don't want to wait it out.

Trail Duty will debit your credit card at the time of order.

Just search this forum a little deeper, you will find DIY rack builds, alternate fab shops doing the work already, tons of information. You can even use that information and take it to any local fab shop. Just drop in and say "hey, they are charging $1,595 to build this... think anyone here can do it in a month for 3/4's of the price?"

options... Or just pony up the cash and get in line.

Ordered Baja Rack Ladder June 13th - arrived today July 11th.

I was happy it arrived ahead of schedule as was quoted 5-6 weeks. Received updates and tracking from them during the process.
