Going from 05 Sport to 14 Limited

So I've been going back and forth now for many months and finally made the plunge last week to go with a 2014 Limited. The dealer could not find exactly what I wanted, so they had to order it for me and delivery is scheduled for the end of May.

I am very excited and can't wait to take delivery on my new Limited but will also be shedding several tears giving up my 05 Sport. My Sport has been the best car I've ever owned and wish I could keep it but cant afford the new one without it going.

I've test driven a few Limits and haven't really noticed much difference with them other then they feel a little bigger.

I am pretty sure a lot on this site has upgraded from a 4th gen to a 5th gen and would like to hear your opinions on your switch.

I Have a 2006 sport and a 2013 limited...Both v6....06 is much more car.like to drive even though it's the same size. Kids like the 13 back seat a lot better. The interior and climate control is a lot better in the 13. Bottom line is I like Em both though

4th gen is a total POS. :uzi: Move on from that dinosaur. Smart key, a trac, bigger, leather, climate control, nav, apps, dubs, free maintenance for two years, new, chicks, liberty, freedom.

I loved my 05 V8 Sport and have a 2011 now SR5. Looking to trade in for a 2014 TE Premium. I like the options on the Limited but can't stand the brace face chrome on the front. Congrats on the new ride!! Post pics when you get it!

I have an ’03 V8 Sport Edition and a ’14 Limited. From my perspective, other than the decrease in low end torque going from the 8 to the 6, it rides bigger and you sit higher, but handling feels crisper. The best analogy that I can come up with is that my ’03 feels like an older Lexus and my ’14 (with X-REAS) feels like an Infiniti. Both handle and ride well, but the ’03 feels a little cushier and the ’14 feels flatter through turns and feels as though it’s ready to handle a quick maneuver better (haven’t had the opportunity to test that theory though). Otherwise, the rest of the differences are based on the obvious changes you’d get going from a sport edition to a limited along with the new features that have come out in the past 11 years…heated and vented seats, rear back-up camera and parking sensors, nav, better stereo, etc. You also get the ability to cut off traction control without going under the hood. You lose the soft close rear hatch, locking fuel door, convenient wheel size, and a few other things.

My ’03 is without a doubt my favorite of all vehicles I have owned. But, considering I’m not truly sold on anything until I’ve had it for a while, I really like the ’14 Limited a lot more than I thought I would and will definitely be getting a 5th gen 4Runner (TE with KDSS) for my next primary vehicle purchase (the ’14 is my wife’s vehicle but it’s our primary family vehicle and I always drive).

I'm not going to pretend that I'm the first guy to own both a 4th gen and a 5th gen and there is a lot of feedback on this forum about this scenario, but like others in a similar situation, I think you’ll be very happy with it.
