OK, since having to replace upper ball joints twice in 6 months, I'm pulling the trigger on new uca. I'm debating between built right uniball or light racing UCA. My truck is more of daily driver and once in a while I will wheel it, flexnit and beat on it like its built for. What would you guys recommend for daily driver/once in a while off roading UCA. The uniball or the LR and your expierence.
going to buy new UCA, help decide.

either way, I think new UCA is more proper for lifted front independent car ?

Well, funny you ask....
I have 35'000 miles on my LR arms and just ordered my second set of replacement upper ball joints for the UCA's They warrantied the second set and may have warrantied the first if I had asked, but fact is... less than one year use? I can't have it.
Thank you LR customer service, but I have to start saving for Total Chaos unless they bring out a new SPC balljoint. :bolt:

OEM works fine for most lifted trucks.
I have BuiltRight.
My original Toyota (OEMs) lasted until i replaced them at 220k miles. Even then they were not failing.
Either spend the full $500-$700 for good after market or go OEM.

So its a no no for uniballs ? Especially for daily driver ? And yes nj uses salt on their roads. Especially this winter.
I was going to get the built right uniball set, but knowing that the uniball is exposed to elements. Makes me think twice.

I have about 3/8 of gab between my tire and my stock UCA. With new tires soon, I'm afraid I'll get some rubbing on UCA to. Despite the fact that, built right are not cheap. Yet I heard very good things about them. They are uniball, only time we see salt in nj is during snow, if it snows. In summer it gets humid. But I wonder, if anyone runs uniball in a state where they see salt and humidity/moisture. If you maintain them, I can't see them.going bad ?? Knowing that you got something stronger then stock while you Offroad, gives you confidence on trail. And less headache. Gives me the green light on taking on a challenge knowing I'm ready. Even though I might not , but you never know.

I have new oems and already spitting grease. Also last alignment they told me my upper right is lose with less than 10k miles. 3" front lift.
This surprises me. Even more reason not to change my originals out.

Do NOT do this.
I would go with the uniball UCAs like built right or All Pro. As long as you keep them clean you should be fine. Just wipe/wash them off after driving through the snow and keep them lubed with TriFlow dry lubricant. It will help keep them in good shape and stop the squeaks. Gear oil will ruin the uniballs.

So even with the "improvements" with the SPC/LR UCA over the years they are still pretty bad? I found them for $380 shipped with the new spec ride bushings and I am really tempted because of their caster adjustability
What he said. I have All-Pro UCAs. Though they are still in the box since I haven't gotten the rest of my suspension yet lol. But a dry lube like the Tri flow or rock lube will make them last longer and protect them from the elements.
