Gold Digger

I've got to update this thread.

I swapped a GM alternator into my 4Runner a few weeks ago, and now when I put my foot on the brake the idle gets all FUBAR and starts bouncing all over the place. I have checked all my connections and everything is the way it should be, which makes me think I have a vacuum leak? But I've checked all my hoses and I can't find a leak...

Its been a while since I updated this thread. I haven't done a whole lot, but I have made some progress.

I tore the driver side rear shock out while I was wheeling a few months ago. I guess the bolt had come lose somehow and it pulled itself right out. I lost some bushings in the process and instead of replacing them, I replaced the rear shocks instead. I purchased a pair of Bilstein 12" 5125 shocks and had them mounted at a local off road fab shop. Other than installing the shocks upside down, they did a great job with the fab work.

Out with the old...

And in with the new...

I installed some LED lights I've had sitting around for a while...

I also installed an auxiliary CB speaker after I cut the wiring in the old pair...

Then I went wheeling with a friend in the NC mountains...

And this is the end product of my new shocks...

Once I put some Chevy springs back there I will get even better travel. I'm pleased with what I gained though!

Thanks fellas. I wish I could take credit for the shock work, but all I did was order the parts and pull the old shit out. I was going to put them together myself but Low Range Offroad boned me again, for the last time I might add, and sent me the wrong parts. The bushings would not fit over the old OE posts and I did not want to deal with them again to send my parts back so I had a shop make it work.

I'm pretty much done with Low Range too. The last couple times I've given them my business I have not been happy.

This was the 3rd time I gave them a try. Shame on me I guess. They sent me the shocks that I wanted but the bushings were too small for the OE posts. I could get the bottoms set but I could not for the life of me get the damn top ones to go on. I think they sent me a set for a domestic (Heep or something) instead of sending me what I ordered. So instead of dealing with them again I just made due with what I got.

Bad deal from Lowrange? Damn, guess it's been a few years since I ordered from them but I've always had good luck and no issues with them.

I like how you did the rear shocks, might steal that idea :D

Also, on your diff breather, it's best there's no low spots where oil can get trapped preventing the hose to breathe and then you're pushin oil past seals

Sucks you guys have had issues. I've never had a problem ordering from them.

Do you order over the phone or online? I've done both thinking I would have better luck over the phone but that was a bad assumption lol.

Thanks for the nomination. I can't hang with money rigs haha

I've ordered from them 4 or 5 times online, in fact I should have my wheel spacers delivered today from them.

Get this POS back on trail, and start building it.

Haha they were cracking me up. I love that trail when you come down we will have to explore Cullowhee.

I need to order a set of spacers too. I'm rubbing my leaf springs pretty good and the frame on both sides in the rear. I'm just destroying my front wheel wells and I dunno if spacers will help me or make the problems worse.

Shoot, I've driven down to their warehouse and spoken face to face with the flatbill hat douche-bro at the counter and they still can't get an order right or ship it on time. Fukem, I say.

Probably won't help. If you're not rubbing terribly you can try adjusting your steering stops. What size tires are you using?

If you want to wait a bit, you can try my set (4) of 1" spacers. I rubbed my leafs with the wheels and 33's that came on mine, I think they were 3.75" b.s. I ordered 1.5" spacers for the front to match my ifs rear axle.

Lol! KidV that's funny shit.
Good call on the steering stops.
