Good AZ Offroading spots

I've been to Box Canyon quite a few times and I'm looking for something maybe a little more interesting (which is difficult, seeing as it is Arizona..) to offroad on. I want to break in my Runner a little bit more, learn how it handles. Suggestions?

Experience AZ has a ton of great info. You should pick up a copy of this:

4x4 and SUV Books : Guide to Arizona Backroads & 4WD Trails (2nd Edition) Cover Price: $34.95

I have been to most of the trails in that book and it is pretty accurate, plus it has a free download of .gpx files for all the trails.

This upcoming weekend I might be doing Elvis with some friends then parking where the trail is closed off at the Martinez Cabins and hiking to the Mine area - we have permission from the land owners to go to the cabins and mine area with the agreement that we'll pick up any trash we come across - which we do every trip out anyway.

I live in Chandler and head out to the trails every few weekends, so if you're ever heading out, or want to head out let me know, I'm always down for some wheelin.

Im looking to hit some offered trail also in AZ. Do you AZ guys do a lot of meet ups? I have a stock T4R but wanting to break her in on the trails

Awesome glad I found this. Also been wheeling around az but would be cool to see other toyotas and new faces to go with. I have been to crown king back roads to lake pleasant. We should set up a group or some sort and start organizing group trail runs. North toward Payson and Camp Verde would be awesome too! I'm familiar with white mountains but not trails.

Subscribed to thread.....Planning to be in Phoenix area 1st or 2nd week off June and would like to hit a couple trails.

It's gonna be hotter than hell down in the valley come June... I'd look for some wheeling opportunities up around Prescott/Jerome and or Sedona/Flagstaff areas. Much cooler up there that time of year...

There are plenty of awesome places to go depending on what part of town you're going to be in..... hit me up when you get to AZ, I'm always up for hitting the trails - even if its 100*+

SE of South Mountain and west of/or western Chandler is where we are staying. I have wheeled in 90 degree weather, no a/c, and Midwest humidity several times. At least my 3rd gen has A/C :biggrin1:

I would be interested in something moderate. Not something easy but not something that tear my 4Runner up making it tough to drive 1200 miles back home.

Can't wait! Hope I get my parts in soon need mandatory maintenance done on my 3rd gen they're up for radiator, and lower ball joint replacement. Just ordered parts :) need to get them done before heatwave comes in. I'm sure there will be lots of adventures this summer.

Wanted to let everyone know that the event planned for April 24-26 at Table Mesa hosted by the ASA has been postponed. I got this email from them yesterdday:

Hell all,

I wanted to inform everybody that the ASA Jamboree which was scheduled for Saturday April 25th has been cancelled to be rescheduled for a later date.
Some recent developments has made planning this event which, was coming up really fast, much more difficult to complete in the allotted time. Refunds for all who sent in registration forms will be issued. If there are any questions, please let me know. I want to thank everybody who stepped up to volunteer for this event. It will be rescheduled and I hope you will be able to help at that time. Also, thank you to all who came out on the pre-run at Table Mesa on the 28th.

I'm still planning on going somewhere and doing something that weekend, leave either Friday evening or Saturday morning, do some wheeling, some hanging out, campfire, an adult beverage or 3, sleep, wake up, wheel a bit more, go home.

Asking around of people who are interested in doing something that weekend where they would like to go - I'm open to go just about anywhere.

Anyone interested? Ideas?

Let me know if any of you will be in the Sedona area!

Thanks for the link to the book, I'm going to get that so my fiancé and I can start exploring more.

I will be in Sedona on June 12 & 13.
I will be in Phoenix area the week before. I want to get out on some trails.

I have been doing some messaging with lofreqjeff and recently gave him more details on when I would be in the area and available. He hasn't responded for several days. Anyone else up for showing an out of stater the best trails in the area that my rig can handle?
