Good Deal on a 2002 T4R? Yay or Nay?

Ok...so this is my second thread. I originally posted in the 4th generation thread regarding whether or not I want to buy a 2002 or 2004 Toyota 4 Runner. I like the body and style of the 3rd generation suv, but I like the upgrades etc on the "newer" models. I'm still doing my reserach to determine which vehicle I actually plan on getting. In the meantime, I am still searching out any hot deals that may come way. Having said all of that, I came across a new listing that looks like it may be worth taking a look at. I think the price may be a bit more than I'd want to pay for a 2002, but I'm not sure.

NAY. Where is the actual picture or pictures? If it is in PERFECT condition, then maybe yes. I would have to see it.

Can't see the ad but for that price it should have like 50k on it and everything like new .....

I'm going to go and have a look at it if it is still available this weekend. It is a newly listed ad and I noticed that it seems to take a day or 2 for additional photos to show up. I'll keep checking to see if they upload some additional photos and if I get a chance to go and take a look, I will take photos and post.

I agree on the comments about the price. I had already budgeted $15,000 for a 2004, but I don't think I'd want to pay more than $10,000 for a 3rd generation. I do like the low mileage.

That's about what they would go for here in the NW. Keep in mind your location too. Rust is always a consideration when dealing with cars from the NE. I would personally feel better buying a 4Runner with double the miles and no rust than one with half the miles and rusty.

Thanks....I'll be sure to give a thorough look for any signs of rust. I doubt the dealer would be willing to come down below $10,000 if the vehicle is in great condition, but if I like it and they are at least willing to ge in the $11,000 range it may be a deal.

According to the carfax this vehicle is a 1-owner vehicle and looks to have been bought and driven locally. The carfax also includes service records which I've noticed during my search is not always included on the carfax.

I'll keep an open mind and be sure to look for rust and other dings etc. $13,000 is definitely not going to get the deal done for me.

That's almost as much as what I paid for my '97 back in 2001. Too much IMO. $9K is what I would pay for it.

i would say closer to the 10K range also - what really matters is how much you like it . if its really only got 74K miles on it and in mint condition id say no more than $11,500 . bet they didnt give whoever traded that in more than $7000-$8000 so make them a real low offer and keep it up until they meet what you think is fair, never offer close to what they want for it. good luck
