Good Head Unit for >$200?

Glad you got it installed and like it. I didn't have any of those problems with my head unit. That stinks.

I mean they weren't really "problems", more just I didn't know where to plug my wiring harness adapter because the instructions were shitty. Got everything solved with a call to Crutchfield.

I am kinda annoyed with the DIN pocket not fitting properly. I use it all the time and keep my phone and wallet in there when I'm driving and it would suck to not be able to really use it anymore. Hopefully I can figure out how to make it fit better. If all else fails, I'll just Dremmel the trim panel so there's enough clearance for the DIN pocket.

David, I am seriously so sorry I didnt do a write up for you. My tranny took a poopy on Saturday so I had to spend the day fixing it. I actually do feel bad about not helping you like I said I would. I am still going to do the write up cause I gonna make a complete 4runner electronics write up including modifications and what not. Again Im so sorry dude. Im gald you were able to do it though and not have to pay someone.

oh p.s. If you can post some pictures of the pocket I might be able to give you some suggestions. I really wish you lived near me, I've seriously got 2 huge boxes full of wiring harnesses, dash kits, adapters, amp kits and loads of other car electrical crap and about 75% of it is for 4runners and tacomas. So if theres anyone in the Denver area that needs some 4runner/Tacoma specific audio stuff, let me know. Ill give this stuff away for free.

And your positive you didn't install the pocket the wrong way? You can install it two ways I believe.

My instructions from Crutchfield were shady as far as telling me how to remove the trim pieces, but it was fine with the wiring. It had a table with colors and what to crimp it to.

I installed the pocket both ways and the only way the trim panel would fit is when the pocket was upside down.

No I replaced the stock speakers with Infinity and JBL.

Matt- Don't worry about not being able to get that write-up done! You obviously had a lot on your plate with fixing your tranny and everything so don't sweat it! It was an easy install, like you said, and I was able to figure things out once I got all the stuff in the mail and I crimped the wires. I'm glad I listened to you though and did it myself, saved $100 and got to feel good knowing I did it all myself.

I'll try to get pictures of the pocket tomorrow sometime. I'll probably just end up using a Dremmel to trim the part of the trim panel that prevents it from fitting flush.
