Good MPG tires?

Anyone notice what tires improve mpg? Obviously many make mpg worse. Trying to avoid poor mpg all season tires.

It's a 4Runner, they are not for MPG, they are for off-road. Get some good All Terrains and have fun.

Stock tires are factored for the MPG rating from the factory. I say go with oem.

You could get really hard compound tires that have terrible grip. They would get great MPG, right up until you lose control and go flying all over.

I can recommend Michelin's LTX M/S 2 -they are quiet, very good on snow and do not decrease the MPG. Also they are known to last very long with 5K rotation and proper inflation.

If you are worried about mpg do not buy a 4runner. A tire can decrease rolling resistance and improve efficiency if:
It is a hard compound
Has a non aggressive, shallow and uniform tread pattern
Narrow contact patch with the ground
Highest possible inflation within limits.

If you are worried about mpg do not buy a 4runner.

Some full size trucks are beating out the 4runner in fuel efficiency. If fuel efficiency was that high of a priority, you should have bought something more fuel efficient...

Add some unsprung weight (sliders, skids, recovery gear, even tires, etc.), have some fun with your truck, and hopefully you can forget how much the MPG seems to matter to you right now and enjoy endless memories across all the miles that your 4runner can take you.

Buy the stock tires again. There is a reason why Toyota put them on in the first place and that reason is MPG's for consumer driven magazines.

It appears from some reviews that Pirelli Scorpion verde all season plus and Bridgestone dueler hl Alenza plus tires may be an upgrade from stock, and may maintain or improve mileage, though these are not primarily off road use.

This winter I've only been getting 17mpg's, less than past but the Duratracs went on last fall so likely the culprit.

Some of the reason is also the "deals" between auto manufacturers and tire manufacturers. Generally (not always), there are significant differences in prices for the exact tire the OEM provides compared to the comparables....

I am running the stock size 265/70/17 BFG AT KO2's and had no change to my MPG's.
