I have the TSB sitting in front of me:
That's the relevant information. The TSB is 6 pages long and includes instructions that aren't worth typing up. My scanner is toast so this was the best I could do. I hope it helps.

Me either, my vin is wayyyy off of that. I just took delivery from Japan on July 3rd and I have no problems with any lag or harsh shifting. I guess it was resolved back overseas.

I have a hard shift but only when going from 1st to 2nd gear in slow traffic. Basically the truck seems to rev up quite a bit then finally shift into 2nd gear. From what it sounds like this tsb is for the downshift 2nd to 1st gear which I have no problems with. Plus my vin is about 15k later then that one listed in the tsb. Oh well. Hope all of you with the tranny lag problem can get them fixed without too much hassle from the dealers.

Dealer did fix mine with the TSB today and it shifts like it should now. My VIN was ending in the 300's so it was on the list.

Nope, my VIN is not in the range and my lag problems seem to have ironed themselves out as I've added miles.

nice. i have to check my VIN.
that said, my V6 definitely feels like it's getting better all the time (nearing 4k miles now). seems to be breaking in/getting used to me—not me getting used to it. thinking back to my initial test-drive last fall, i'm much more enthusiastic about the new V6 now. it's as if the engine is shy at first.
that dynamic must be kind of a hard-sell for Toyota, though. you never get a second chance at a first impression, after all.

I have a 10am appointment at the service dept on Monday for the 0166-10 tranny TSB . I either got used to it or it's learned my driving habits as it's hardly noticeable now.
Just got back to Texas last night from the eastern leg of my trip(3437.1 miles) and the only noticeable minor complaint on my runner is the cruise control in the mountains. Drops down about 5-10 mph lower and then drops down a gear and floors it to 5mph over to keep up.Kinda hair raising on a curvy road and had to kick it off several times.Very noticeable if I was running with a pack at the same speed and much more noticeable then the 06 sport I owned before this one.Maybe the ECU flash for the tranny will help.
Sandcrawler... I know what you mean about the power of these engines getting better and better. At over 12,000 miles now and she still keeps getting stronger and stronger. On the trip ,getting caught in 18 wheeler traffic and then getting clear , then pulling away from SUV's with V8's was the norm. Sport mode ,drop it down a gear and your gone.
I only averaged 17.6 mpg on the trip but the big tires,mountain driving and lead foot was the culprit there.I have V1 radar and set the cruise for 10 mph over the speed limit on the interstates so usually 80mph.
Regroup, rotate the tires and off to the Rockies and Moab next week for another 3000 miles!

glad you had a good trip, harper7. (and productive; i'm still drooling over the new BB skids.)
you've certainly been putting her through the paces—in mods and miles!!
Same here, I only have 500 miles in my first week but it seems it gets smoother everytime I get in it. It also sounds deeper and as the milage is building.
I am on the way to Nags Head (don't worry, the wife is driving). I was reading 24.6 mpg until getting in horrible traffic where it is taking 2 hrs to cover 20 mi. I noticed the dealer had my tire pressure low when I checked last week. Very happy with the truck! Not so thrilled with the civil engineers down here!

last 5 of my VIN are: 00759
Looks like I qualify, however, I do not notice any hard down shifting. I DO notice the tranny hunting for gears after making a corner around 15mph, hit the gas a bit and it revs like in N, then finally either picks 1st or 2nd, can be annoying at times. Wonder if this might address that issue as well?

I know what you mean. I've been on some crazy highways in the mountains here in California and I've had some near death experiences as a result!

I'm hoping that this is the issue that is addressed by the TSB, regardless of what they call it and how it is described.
Mine is before the VIN and it is very annoying as well. I just discovered today that I don't even have to be turning. Just tooling along at 10 MPH looking at houses and when I went back to the gas the T4R went to looking, shifting, reving and bucking. Kinda sucks.
