Good news for the tranny lag..new tsb fixes!

last 5 of my VIN are: 00759

Looks like I qualify, however, I do not notice any hard down shifting. I DO notice the tranny hunting for gears after making a corner around 15mph, hit the gas a bit and it revs like in N, then finally either picks 1st or 2nd, can be annoying at times. Wonder if this might address that issue as well?

ok i haven't looked at like the 10previous posts but i can tell you that this was my problem when i went to the dealership. THE TSB DOES NOT FIX TRANNY LAG THE TSB WAS ORIGINATED TO FIXED A HARD SHIFT.

I got my TE the middle of Jan, the tranny lag is aweful. I'll have to look into this.

Quick question - I have to take mine in for my 1st oil change, will they automatically apply this fix or is it by request only? Trying to figure out if I should tell them NOT to do it when I go in as I do not have hard shifts, just the lag.

I would ask them to test drive it and mention the TSB-hard shifts, let them decide if you have the problem. I had the same problem as you when slowing down to make a turn and after turning being under 20mph It would shift in the wrong gear a hard shift. They did the TSB and all is well now.

hi all, thought id chime in again because i just hauled a 4000 lb trailer about 450 miles including a couple grades and i was actually quite impressed with how well it did. (coming from a previous cummins owner). the transmission shifted perfeclty and i did not notice it hunting around, and the v6 did way better than i would have thought.
all in all, pretty fantastic for a gas v6 suv.
now if i can only get that dog puke smell out of the back seats....

call stanley steemer. they will clean car upholstery. i think they have a deal goin over for 100 bucks.....that or use tons and tons of febreze.

Just called my dealership service dept. and they had no idea or onfo on a TSB for my 2010 TE at all. Very frustrating.............. they are the worst, Smithtown Toyota in NY. aHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

Only the last 5 numbers are sequential, the rest indicate engine, build location, etc.

That's the relevant information. The TSB is 6 pages long and includes instructions that aren't worth typing up. My scanner is toast so this was the best I could do. I hope it helps.

Well after a few more phone calls I finally got the answer I was looking for. My 2010 TE is involved in the tranny lag TSB. I have an appointment this Thurs. at 8am. I will keep you guys posted.

i'm pretty sure saberman there is NO tsb for tranny lag, the tsb everyone is talking about is for a hardshift below 20mph, after reflashing for that hard shift it created the tranny lag which is what we're all stuck with now.

Mine is one of the earliest VIN on this site and I have had the goofy tranny lag/hard shift since day 1.

I will be scheduling a reflash when i have time.

I'm sorry? what i said comes straight from the technician actually worked on my 4runner and who i decided to talk too since the service guys are pretty much morons. The svc manager told me to bring mine in b/c it was within the vin range as well which is why i brought it in. tech told me the tsb was for the hard shift on earlier models, and i explained that i told the svc guy on the phone my issue was a tranny lag and he said well your tranny lag is a result of this tsb which fixes the hard shift, no tsb has been issue for tranny lag.

So why your saying um, no dude just no, boggles me b/c i'm trying to put out what comes directly from service techs that are actually DOING the relfash instead of spreading inaccurate "gouge".

Well, if the 'tranny lag' is a result of the flash, BUT those of us with early VIN's who HAVE the 'tranny lag', what will the results be? An even greater 'tranny lag'? I'm just trying to get a clear picture here. I have a feeling we need some more guinea pigs

not sure about the hard shifting issue, but maybe the lag and the hard shift are one in the same or maybe they are not...
all i do know is that i felt that there was a delay in the shifting at low speeds, and the drivabilty was crap, even my wife said its drove goofy. whatever the tsb was, it completely rectified the situation, and the truck drives right.
so in other words, if your truck is driving goofy, id get it in to the dealer and make a stink. i cant believe that car manufacturers dont take a more proactive approach to this sort of thing. i was really close to flat out selling this truck because it was driving me crazy, and i felt sick about shelling out 35k on a truck that wasnt right...hell, even my land rover(with far worse reliability than my land cruisers, and this 4 runner) even was a pleasure to drive brand new! sorry for venting...
anyway, id say get those dealers to get after it! bingham toyota in fresno was pretty on the spot with this.

thats exactly how i feel and i'm pretty pissed the dealership gave me the complete runaround on this issue. I now feel like going back..
