GOOD NOOB!!! '05 questions w/pics!

1st PIC:
Fuel door release will not say seated. Every time I pull on it, the thing pops off in my hand. I'm positive it's inserted and seated correctly... but it will not sit tight. Is there another clip/attachment/bracket that I'm missing, or should the thing just pop up in there and stay?

2nd PIC:
Mess of wiring inside the fuse panel. Is this OEM or the PO's hatchet wiring job of some random and unwanted electrical whatchamacallit I have yet to find.

3rd/4th/5th PICs:
I believe this is a shot of the OEM steering wheel audio controls for an '05 compared to my stock 6spkr non-JBL non-control steering wheel. Do the controls for the base audio system also look like that? If that's the case, does it mean if I want OEM controls, I need a hole new steering wheel? I noticed a panel on the same side of the steering wheel... anything? Even if I don't have a control'd steering wheel, are the wiring/connectors still in there?

Yes, that is what the steering wheel controls look like. The right side is blank, unless you have the OEM navigation, then it adds the Bluetooth phone controls and voice command activation buttons on the right. You don't need a new steering wheel, but you will need a new airbag cover and possibly the airbag too. Someone has posted that Toyota Phillipines has just the cover only, but it's not sold that way in the US.

A member here has added steering wheel controls to his SR5 by cutting and trimming the airbag cover and eliminating the need to get the right side blanks (and airbag cover).

On my '07, the fuel release is on the left, and hood is on the right. Can you swap the 2?

Ya pretty sure they are backwards. Try switching them. The fuel door release should be the closest to the driver door.

I have a 03 SR5 and the fuse box has no random wires running through it. I also have a aftermarket Pioneer Z110BT and a aftermarket alarm. No extra wires near my fues box.

My wheel controls look the same as the ones in the picture and I just have the standard non JBL system.

wife's 06 T4R fuse box doesn't have wires running around like that inside.

could be the remnants of an aftermarket alarm system or stereo system that was removed before sale by the previous owner?

I bought it from a Toyota dealership used. I think those wires might have been from the universal system they install into the OBDII port that allows them access to all the vehicles from a common remote the salesdude carries. The wires you see there terminate in to 4 small connectors tucked down by the OBDII port... dark now will get pictures tomorrow. I may drive it by the dealership tomorrow for a look. Those wires look like brand new installation. I'm sure the dealership did it... just want to know what it is.

And you guys were right about the routing of the fuel/hood release. I swapped them. The hood release secures in it's holder great... the fuel door release is still a little loose. I'm going to have to fashion a shim or something to make it snug.

I'll let you know what I find out at the dealership.

Chances are they're from a KARR branded security system installed at the dealer. Most likely an EX-1 or 2040A.

Just checked mine, it's the same as these guys.

The wires there, some of them are tapped into existing wires... definately aftermarket.
