My 2000 LandCruiser (205,000 miles) treated me well, but decided it was time for a change. Bought a new 2012 silver TE with KDSS and NAV. Yes a 2012 was still on the lot but made for a good deal.
I have 3000 miles on it and only upgrade is cooper at3's in size 275/70/R17. I had upgraded my LC with OME lift and 285 duratracks. Although I really enjoyed the added off road performance and improved firmness for the 6 times a year I was on a trail, the general commuting comfort took quite a hit. So no hurry to make any suspension upgrades to the 4runner.
Very pleased with everything so far and looking forward to trying it offroad at my camp in Maine in 2 weeks. My only issue has been that the steering pulls to the right after new tires were put on and it "wonders" at +65 mph. No pull when I had the stock tires, but there was a slight flutter/vibration at highway speeds.
Its at the dealership right now for second alignment in 1 week. After the first alignment and supposed test drive, it was actually much worse. This time I mentioned maybe they could try adjusting the caster closer to 3.5 or 4.0, but they laughed and said that I was nuts for suggesting that...
My only other dilemma is that I have VSE (vehicle separation anxiety) and am having a hard time parting with the LC. I'm hoping once the alignment gets fixed and I play offroad with the 4runner, it will be easier to let go of the LC.
