I finally got around (and got the $$$) to replace the stock Dunlops on my Runner. I read through numerous threads on here which helped me A LOT. I almost went with the Bridgestone Revos which many people on here have, and seem to love, but I took a chance on the new Goodyears, which have phenomenal reviews on TireRack and elsewhere. The biggest decision for me was whether to upsize from the stock 265/65/17 to the 265/70/17. I decided to go for it and I'm quite pleased that I did. The tires fill out the wheel wells a little more, which makes the truck look a lot better from the side, IMO. The decision was also made a little easier for me, as I don't believe that Goodyear makes the TripleTred in our stock size, but don't quote me on that.

I'm posting some pics, mainly to give the Goodyear's some credit on here. Also, I don't think anyone has posted pics of these tires yet, though they have been discussed a little bit.

Wow...good looking tires!! How's the ride and noise level, compared to stock??

Goodyear is making a comeback with their new offerings. The Fortera may be in my future for my wife's Highlander.

My opinion on the tires so far...

One of the hardest things for me to get used to was the blackwalls (no white outlined lettering). I know some people don't like the white lettering, but I actually thought it looked good, especially on the sport editions. Unfortunately (sort of), the white lettering is not available on the TripleTred tires, as of yet. It IS available on the SilentArmor tires, which is strange but whatever. I've had the tires for about a month now and the blackwalls have grown a lot on me, to the point where I'm glad that they didn't have white lettering available, because I might have made a bad decision with that. I'm quite fond of the blackwalls now.

The tread pattern is very aggressive, for a passenger tire. It's a little hard to tell from the pics, but it's nice and aggressive. Certainly not like the Revo or BFG, but it's a nice alternative. I ultimately went with this tire because I do very little offroading in the Runner. I use it for ski trips back to Vermont, where I went to college, and for driving around the Southern MD / DC area. The winter weather here sucks, and it's usually more icy than anything. These tires are supposed to be excellent in all types of bad weather, which is primarily what I needed in a tire. So far I've driven them in heavy rain and that's it. No snow or ice so far. The tires were EXCELLENT in the rain. I will post more feedback as the weather permits here.

I have a few more pics that I took, but I was in a hurry, so they are basically the same as what you see here. If you want to see some other angle, etc, let me know and I'll see what I can do!

Noise level compared to stock Dunlops is comparable, I would say. Nothing drastic. I'd like to say they could even be slightly quieter, but it's nothing major, like I said. Pretty comparable to stock as far as noise is concerned. It's definitely not worse. They ride BEAUTIFULLY though....

And I agree with you - Goodyears are definitely making a bit of a comeback. I was a little nervous to get them but went with them anyway and have not been the least bit disappointed so far.

Like I said, I'll post more of a review when we start to get some snow and, more likely, ice here.

They look great!!! The tread pattern looks aggressive enough to me, definitely looks like they would track well in heavy rain.


PS... Parrothead here too, went to see him in Dallas, TX this past summer.

Nice! Saw him at Nissan Pavilion and in NYC at Madison Square Garden this past summer. He's losin' it a little bit, but still good!

The tread pattern is very nice; it looks even better in person on the truck though...

Looks real nice.Nice looking tires.I went to Costco to ask about going up to P265-70/17 from P265-65/17.I am probably getting the Michelin Crossterains.I was told by the salesman that they would only put the stock size on (265-65/17)on.Something about Toyota recomended tire replacement.Does anybody think that it may effect warranty or even performance.I Think it may effect performance a little.Maybe Ill ask one of the guys at my dealership.If any one has any thoughts on this chime in for discussion.Thanks.By the way i have a 2004 Sport edition V8 still runnin the Dunlops,30,000 miles not bad.

I just had same experiece with CostCo. My daughter has my ole '90 4Rnr which had Michelin 235/75x15 on it for last 110k miles (yup even the wear indicators were about gone!). They were installed by CostCo years ago. I ordered new BFGs from CostCo online ($60 off 4). Had to say for a Durango to get the right size. She goes to have them installed and guy says he can't do it cuz the book says 225/75x15! I convinced him that they also came with 31" tires and the 235 had a better weight carrying capacity than the wimpy 225s. What a stupid policy! I can see perhaps only mounting 2 widths wider and never one lower but one side of slightly different aspect ratio - that's BS. If they felt they could be liable for some safety reason - just have the customer sign a waiver. I too soon will need new tires for my '03 Rnr --- guess I'll have to go to Sam's!

Costco will not mount tires other than the stock size due to liability reasons. (I think the Ford Exploder fiasco has something to do with the change.) I've heard, if you bring in the wheels loose, then you can have them install the tire size of your choice.

Right, or you can just order them on TireRack.com or DiscountTireDirect.com and have them shipped to a local place of your choosing and have them installed that way. That's how I did it and there was absolutely no hassle whatsoever.

WOW I like them , I think they look aggressive for a street/all season tire. I think they look just as aggressive as a Revo. The Revo is a very over rated all terrain tire. Much more of a aggressive all season tire. The GY's look just as aggressive . The BFG is more aggressive true all terrain.

All in all I think you made a great choice for your driving habits and thought it out well... congrats.
