Goodyear Wrangler Duratrac

i have some duratracs 305/70/16 on my 4th gen... load E. i work at discount tire and mounted em up and balanced em. they came out perfect with very very minimal weight. i can drive 80mph with no squirmyness. i have about 5k miles on them so far and they havent worn hardly any. ill definitely buy some again
 
Maybe the Toyos being on a work rig is why , not cared for ? My buddy has Open C's on his F350 and nearly 2 years old now and wearing just fine . I was actually very impressed with the grip they had last time I wheeled with him.

I am by no means a diehard goodyear fan. Would I buy them again? Sure. Would I try something different? Sure. I had a set of Toyo Proxes on my E36 M3 and they performed great.

In my opinion Duratrac's are in their own category. More aggresive than an all terrain, but not quite a mud terrain. It would be great to have a wider variety of this type of tire for us mall crawlers!

Let me re-phrase that. They are on a truck at work that doesnt really get worked like a truck should if that makes sense. The truck (F-250) doesnt get loaded up, just driven around for patrol type duties. I work for the city and for some reason they got on the bio-diesel trip so all our vehicles had to be diesel regardless of what they were used for. Security patrols in an F-250 diesel makes a lot of sense.

I dont care, the Toyo MT's look cool but I am not the one footing the bill for a new set every 5k-10k.
 
haha, you're really having issues with them? Mine balanced perfectly on my jeep....on steel cragars, looks like you got a bad batch bud. Take them to a shop that has road force.
 
I have had mine for about 1200 miles and could not be happier with them. I have had them up to around 80mph on the highway without any signs of vibration. I purchased them at discount tire and had them mounted and balanced there.

ProComp Extreme all terrain, D.i.c.k. Cepek Fun Country II, Mickey Thompson ATZ are all the ones I can think of and existed before Duratracs.

i've had mine for about 500 miles now and all i can really comment on at this point is the grip in the rain on the wet roads of washington , with it raining over the last week i've been trying to break them loose around corners and such, and i have failed, they will chirp but keep traction as if it was a hot day out, i'm really impressed, they balanced and mounted perfectly on my 4runner and i have zero vibes up to around 80-85 , meaning i don;t know if there are vibes beyond that becuase i didn't go faster then that.

i still run bfg at's on my '91 xj and have to say that these duratracs are far superior according to my butt gauge and i'm only talking DD here right now as i haven't been off road yet in the duratracs but having a far more aggresive tread patteren then the at's i would think they will be better in that since as well.

i was trying to decide between these and the toyo open country mt's and am happy with my choice, i'll pop back in here for time to time for reports on wear,mud and snow handling and any issues that may arise.

How is the ride quality with the E load. That is the one thing that us turning me away from these tires. I would love to have a D load tire because comfort is an issue (not for me, but for the GF and the baby). I just don't want to feel every bump in the road.
 
I'm seriously thinking about picking up a set of these for my project :) Only problem I'm having now is whether I should keep my 16's and just paint 'em or move up to those 17" FJ's and get a slightly smaller, say 285/70 tire to put on them...so many choices...

They make them in a C load.

Just wanted to say thanks. I just pulled the trigger on some 265/75/16 "C" Duratracs after a day or two of research. Almost got Revo 2 at Costco, but they wouldn't mount oversize so I went back to my regular tire guys who told me I would be better off with these anyway and with a C vs P rating. (I didn't need "E".)

I took my 974runner back from my wife and let her drive the F150 supercrew (actually she didn't like driving it without a bumper since a deer took it off and I refuse to pay for another plastic one until I have money for an ARB).

I am so happy to have the T4r back. It is easier (more sporty) to wheel around in, even though a truck is cool, easier on gas and easier to fit down in trails where I work running a 350 acre retreat. I do miss the big trash can in the back...

Anyway, Had to replace tires for inspection and am feeling the bug. Getting the bigger tires and now want new suspension for a real bumper and differential lock. I will be looking for advice on making it affordable as the Duratracs set me back $780.

Sorry to get off track, I'll post review later as I am on and off road and into creeks most every day and my caretaker seems to think I got the Polaris Ranger for him.
 
I put Duratrac 33x1250x15's on my 95 4runner in Jan. so far they are good , between the snow and the rain we have had this winter , they have held traction very well . i'm curious about wheeling with them, has anyone wheeled them.
 
Must be over a year ago I bought my Terra Grapplers , still love them too . Long as they don't change anything in them , it will be my next set as well.

I've had mine on since October of '09 and they are one of the best tires I've driven on in 20 years and wouldn't hesistate to get another set. Just had 'em doing some rock crawling and puddle jumping and they were out performing the Super Swampers on a current Jeep when they got wet as my truck hardly struggled and the jeep needed a few tries to get over the same rocks as I did but coulda' been the driver too.

I do have the C rated version in the +1 size since E would be really rough on the street with a 4000lb truck and I keep them at 36psi and haven't had any issues with them and they are wearing pretty well after about 17k miles.
