Okay, so not 3rd gen related other than I have one in mine?
I bought this thing because I wanted the basics, without an app, a phone, another electrical accessory etc, just the facts, ma'am.
Dorky, yes, but it also reminds me of the ones that came in the Gen 1's, which were WAY cooler.
I'm seeking suggestions for other options, I didn't turn up anything much in my flopping about on line, because this post is ultimately a damning condemnation of this company, and the absolute garbage they purvey....
Bought it last Spring. Out of the box, the compass wasn't even a directional suggestion device, it was more than 90 degrees off, it's a bauble without a purpose. Did't buy it for the compass, so I didn't really care too much about that, TBH.
The other gauges are within 5 degrees, based on my phones cross referencing. Fine, whatever, it was under 30 bucks on eBay.
Contact the company about the plainly wrong compass, and they (after about a months delay) got back to me, and offered a replacement, cool, thanks.
6 moths later, nothing, including responses to inquiries about the promised replacement.
One VERY direct email got an immediate, defensive response and a weak sauce explanation. I finally got the replacement a few weeks ago.
Compass is exactly the same. No response from them since.
Stack on top of that, one single summer in upstate NY (not exactly the desert southwest, temps wise, but getting there more each summer) and the plastic covering the gauges has wrinkled to hell and pulled free of the box it's mounted to.
Then you realize the numbers for the gauges are printed ON said plastic, and yeah, wow, this thing really was designed to be removed from the original packaging and placed directly in your trash receptacle..... :clap2:
