This is going to be long, sorry in advance.
So I decided to go with BFG 275/70/R17 for my 2015 TE. Called around and everyone was out of stock except for one place witch I try to avoid due to their iffy rep as a general repair shop. I was quoted $200 per tire which beat Discount who said it would be 1+ week wait. I go and drop it off with 216 miles on the clock, basically show room fresh. Four hours go by and I did not hear anything, so I go back 15mins before they close and they are running around trying to wrap stuff up. They finally finished, it was dark and they had some white lube on the rims but it looked good. :dance:
I got home to the lighted garage and removed whatever that white lube was and discovered that all four rims were scratched from mounting the tires. I contacted them by phone this morning and they were like no way it was from mounting, but you will have to bring it back for inspection. Upon reviewing the damage they agree it was do to the mounting. I told them that mistakes happen but how could you scratch one and keep going scratching all four rims? So they asked what I wanted them to do about it. Kind of dumbfounded by such an obvious question, I said I want them fixed. I was offered an alignment and I told them to they better stop that train of thought right now and figure out how they were going to FIX them.
They take some pictures, make some calls, and only one guy returns. He said the best he can do is have them powder coated and they would pay for it. Now I had planned on plasti dipping one rim to see how I liked it, but my TE is silver and the stock silver rims look really good on that color with the KO2's so this is not something I really WANT to do. They guy handed me his card with his personal cell number and told me to call him once I figure it out. Then out of the blue, he mentioned HE would be paying the $250 for powder coating out of pocket. I immediately thought this is a bad sign because I feel like he is trying to sweep it under the rug, and stay out of trouble with the company. On the other hand after looking further into similar situations with this company, it appears they have told lots of people to get lost and nothing is done without a small claims court filing. Which I want to avoid at all costs.
So with all that said, I am not quite sure what to do yet. I submitted some pictures to a rim repair company here in Vegas but they were already closed and don't open to Monday so I am not sure if they can be repaired or what I would even cost ballpark. Here are some pics of the damage

but it should have been caught before they finished the first one. It looks from the pics like it's just in the clear coat so it may be possible to just have them re-cleared.
