So, I finally got my new tires put on Monday night. They are Nokian Vatiiva 265/70/16, and they are flat out awesome. The trucks previous owner had bent up the running board, so they were rubbing the tires on the ride home. So I got under the car with a few sockets/box wrenches and took those things off.... finally!
I drove them over icy Vail pass last night and they were rock solid. When I woke up this morning there was probably 8 inches of snow at my house, but with the Vatiivas it was like driving on dry pavement. The drive to work was absolutely painless, and as the snow is supposed to continue all day, I expect the ride home to be just as good! Here's some pics from the parking lot at the base of the ski mountain. It's got less snow that where I live, but its stacking up! Should be a great opening day at Beaver Creek....
