Got new MT's today :) 285/75r16

Was hunting around for tires and by chance came across a pep boys add. I got 4 dakota definity MTs 285/75r16. Out the door for $680.00 They have a buy 3, get 1 for a dollar. Couldn't pass it up. I have the DS 2.5/1.5 kit, and surprisingly no rubbing on the ride home. I was easy on it as far as turning though. I have yet to turn it to full lock and see where it rubs. No rubbing on anything at all, not even UCA's, and I don't have spacers. They do have a little wine too them, but it is an MT. They run a lot smoother than my worn down AT's, which were also Definity dakotas. Wanders a little on the highway but I haven,t had the aligment done yet, doing that tomorrow. Here are some crappy cell phone pics...

Update, just went out and put er at full lock. They rub a little on the UCA's at full lock. Not that bad at all though, not sure if its even worth spacers. Opinions on that any one?? They might be rubbing a VERY little bit on the front flaps and about the same on the front fender liner. Again, not bad at all though.

Yet to rotate, but they appear to be wearing evenly and lightly.
Perform EXCELLENT off road. Especially when aired down.
So far, no problems with rain on the streets.
Very LOUD tire at moderate street speeds.
High rolling resistance= hit in MPG's

thanks a lot for ur 7k review man, mine seem balanced well thus far, i had it up 2 75mph on the hwy. Ya i have only put maybe 15 miles on them, and from what i can tell i am prolly going to loose 2-3 miles a gal with my v8, oh well, its worth it, and not my DD. What are you airing down to (psi), and for what terrain? also what psi u running on the road?

after backing her into the drive last night, I think wheel spacers are in my future . it rubs more in reverse when turning (on the UCA's). Prolly end up doing very little trimming on mud flaps and possibly fender liners. Not sure if spacers are going to cause me to do more, or less trimming. I found a set of spacers on eBay for $120 free shipp for all 4, obviously lug centric, good idea? or no? Wheel spacers might be needed for clearance with the UCA's, but should not change the rubbing issues. Personally, I do not like the running boards, but with I had a 3rd gen for over a decade and got used to using them to get in & out. I took mine off for a while (like the look), but couldn't get used to it w/o them. Also, with the lift they make life easier - esp. when washing (plus the wife needs them)! Lastly, I swapped mine out for the newer SE tube nerf steps. I really like the look as it mounts closer to the body and still retains the step. (BTW - they take 15 mins to unbolt...you can try them either way).

I agree with Viking. It will at least make that 2.5" lift look a lot higher even though you won't be gaining any real ground clearance.

I just removed mine this weekend (no lift) and it looks much higher. Although, the underside is much more visable but its not that big of a deal to me.

Man those look really nice. I looked at those but they didn't have a 265/70/17. That isn't a bad price at all!! They really make your 4runner look alot more aggressive!

The tires will probably rub more when you are flexed out off road. I took my running boards off for a while several years ago. I off road a lot in the desert and with all the rocks my AT tires picked up it looks like someone was trying to sandblast the bottom of the doors and rocker panels. Looks kind of bad. The running boards stop this. I only take them off now on harder trails where I need the ground clearance on the sides going over rocks. I also missed the running boards when washing the 4runner, easier to do the roof. Wife demanded they go back on also, she is short and uses them.

thx chris! Still jealous, u gots .5in of rubber on me, and some lift lol, but this prolly was the best way for me to go given my budget, and lack of mods needed with a 33.3

from what I understand the lug centric spacers are very hard to balance. I think you want hub centric.
