Got problems with door sill..

EDIT: So it's been a few weeks since this was done and wanted to show the pics of how it's fixed with JB Weld.





Since the last post I showed the rust part on the door sill, I poked around with it to see if it already made a hole and guess what? It did!

I don't know what to do about it because I never weld before :nono:

Personally i would probably just grind off as much rust as possible, then paint it and leave the hole. Welding on the sheet metal is hard, even if you know what your doing. Or go get it professionally fixed.

A little hole is not a huge deal on the door sill. If it was on the door, or roof then its worth fixing IMO.

I have rust like that on the rocker panels on my '98, the bubbles indicate the rust is from the inside. Check for other similar "bubbly" spots for future problems.

I had no idea my panels were in bad shape until I was changing my tires last fall, I noticed what I thought was dirt, poked it and put a hole in my panel. Since then (December) both rocker panels have developed significant holes.

I hate salt.

Yeah I hate salt too! Yep got the same problem as you, I poked it and there comes a hole

Solution????

Clean up the rust, with a sandpaper or grinder and wire wheel

Use some screen (window screen works good...and is cheap), and some JB Weld to patch the hole. (JB weld is like a puddy which becomes rock hard when dry)

Sand down the JB Weld, so that it is smooth and blends into the rest of the rocker..

Paint to match the body color.

I once used JB Weld to patch holes which developped in my Gas Filler Tube on my Monte Carlo...worked like a charm!

This is what I'm planning on doing if I have issues like you posted.....
