VERY nice! I think I have an idea of how it's going to look, and if I'm imagining it correctly...this is going to be superb! Can't wait to see the finished product :thumb:

PS: safety feature my :moon:

LOL!

As I know more... you guys will know more!

The cage will be stainless so you don't have to paint it if you don't want to (I will be painting mine). Because I'm no longer using the plastic OEM tray, the battery can twist under the center tie-down. because the larger size already makes the cables a tight fit, making sure it stays put before I start bouncing off trails was important to me and a "safety feature" that the wife agreed with... so yeahhhh me.... got to buy truck parts during "house pay off time".

BUMP.. UPDATE:
We are looking at wrapping it up next week. I have the lid formed and the base formed. Just have to weld on the hold down details as soon as I have a man free up. The cost will be same as the Tacoma one @ $125.00

More to come in about 1.5 ~ 2 weeks depending on shipping.

AND..... it's in the mail! ... Just got the tracking confirmation that there is a brown truck moving my battery cage from California to Indiana. Was hoping to have it before the weekend, but it looks like it won't show up till Tuesday

Not sure if I'll get it painted before heading out west... It's stainless, so it won't matter, but was hoping to save myself an install->reinstall.

More pictures once it arrives!

WOW! Looks GREAT! How can others get one? Please take install pics if you can. I would love to see what goes into this mod.

I could see a Group 31 main battery tray mod with this cage in my near future. :thumb3:

The manufacturer is switching to a larger location, so they are keeping their production schedule limited until that move has completed, this first unit is likely it for right this moment, but I'll keep the group posted. They will be mass available shortly... I'll ask them how shortly :bravo:

I'll do a write up (or post pics at the very least) over the weekend. Those same pics will also go to the manufacturer for their usage.

Okki - Thanks! This mod could come in handy this summer. We could enjoy our "party mode" feature while at the beach without fear this summer!

Thx Okki

FYI +1 when they're ready from me.

So here is the teaser for what I'm working on at the moment. Hopefully should be arriving at my door in the next two weeks so I can get it installed before I head out to the Overland Expo West. I got special dispensation from the Mrs because it's a safety feature

It's solid! .. I'm really happy with how it turned out.

I'm currently talking to Pelfreybilt about a group buy and they are very interested in that, so hang on tight for details.

I saw this a few months ago but was disappointed in the thin gauge of steel he uses. Maybe he's stepped it up.

I haven't measured it, but it certainly seems sufficient for the job. If you torque down to hard on the j-hooks, it will bend out the side a bit, but that's a pretty good indication that you are overdoing it in my mind.

With the OEM battery tie-down I was able to twist the battery by hand.... with this cage I can sway the truck, but the battery stays put. As mentioned; I'm pleased so far with the product. I'll provide an after action report when back from my western trek.

Anyone wanted to call a spot for a possible group buy yet? The normal MSRP is $125, so it should come in under that.

Full Disclosure: I have nothing to gain from assisting Pelfreybilt with this group buy, aside from a t-shirt they are sending me as a thank you. This is one of the first 5th gen 4Runner products, so I just wanted to help them out as a new possible vendor and get the 5th gen group here another product to choose from.
