Gotta loved Plasti Dip!!! Pics included

I have been looking at EVERYONES mods here trying to figure out what exactly i want to do go my truck. Slowly but surely I am getting stuff done. Yesterday I decided to Plasti-Dip my emblems and my rims. I read everything I could here about it and watch a bunch of how-to Youtube vids and decided to pull the trigger and go for it! It was pretty as easy to do and really straight forward. Only downfall of it was prepping a black truck in the hot Arizona sun. I had 3/4 truck in my garage during prep but the sun followed me in there. Needless to say the truck was HOT to the touch lol:ybrick: Got it all prepped after bout 1.5 hrs(all emblems cleaned and all the rims cleaned etc...)

Wow, that looks beautiful... Some may not like the "Murdered out" look but , with the right vehicle and wheels, it can be pulled off, and yours is no exception.. :high5::thumb3:

Im not a huge fan either....I wanted to do the gun metal color but after going to 4 places(3 didnt even have it even though websites and ppl at their business said they did) I found 1 places that did have it but only in black.

I left the lugs silver and will be adding more white stickers to counter the all black.

Definitely think you can pull the white stickers/decals off.. :iagree:

PS: I actually like the fact that you left the lugs oem color-wise as it offsets the rest of the molding/rack/body's color combo.

Did you scuff the wheels first, or just clean and then apply the Plasti-Dip?

I took the truck to a good car wash and got the degreaser wash on rims...came home and touched up with rubbing alcohol

I bought 2 cans. took 3/4 of can to put 5 coats on emblems. 4 coats on rims and was good to go. Im not sure how long it will last and what it will do when i offroading Ill tell ya after tomorrow!

When you did the emblems did you block off the insides of the o's/4/a etc or did you just pick out the dip later on?

you just pick it out, toothpicks work well

Has anyone seen the black, black matte or charcoal on 4Runners that are off black. How do they look?? Mine is some weird Black/Green in the sun color. Which I can't find techincal name for so if anyone knows how to find it, I'd appreciate it.

Did it to the wheels on my 3rd gen. The first time you get new tires, the machine that mounts the tires is going to scuff up the very outer lip. I think if I do it again I will try and figure out how to avoid spraying the outer lip to begin with.
