Gotta Start Somewhere...Else

The other issue with carplay stuff is.. Well, its a lot harder to look at your phone and find songs than just navigating a file system.
The song title and artist shows up on the screen along with any album cover art if it's on my phone. Unless I'm using navigation, my screen is always turned off.

I have little data on my phone plan, therefore the data is always turned off on my phone unless I'm using it for for a short time. I have tracks of various music genres with songs from ABBA to ZZ Top. They're grouped by genre. Most of the time when driving I have modern jazz playing at low volume as it's more relaxing for me.

Over the decades my methodology for music on my phone is to buy music CDs from the thrift shop for a quarter or so, burn them to my computer, transfer my favorites to my phone, and re-donate the CD to the thrift shop. The radio in my 4Runner links with my phone immediately upon starting and plays the music with no input from me; I generally shuffle play within a genre or shuffle all music.

I live in a very rural, isolated region and there are only two local radio stations, and both suck. Therefore Bluetooth and my phone is the savior of my sanity while driving.
