GPS problem with Nav

I have tried to search out a thread on this problem with no avail.

A few days ago as I was driving down the grade from Donner Pass into Nevada, my GPS did not know where I was. It showed me in the middle of the wilderness and not on the highway. I had no signal and the North South directions were totally screwed up as well. I tried recalibrating, but it did not help. This is all happening on a 2014 SR5 which I have had for about six weeks.

Has anyone else had this problem? Does anyone know of a fix? Or, am I just going to have to fight with my dealer to get it right again?

If the vehicle is under 36k, I would take it back to the dealership and have it checked under warranty. There should be no issues if you're under the 3yr/36k warranty period (that's what its there for.)

We had one in a 2014 Trail Edition that would just spin the icon around in circles, Toyota eventually had us replace it after doing some tests.

Don't know about your dealer, but the one I bought mine from in Illinois is one of those butt-kisser ones trying to make sure you give them five star rating.

I was under the impression that the 4Runner isn't "synced" or whatever the word is, whatever you call that thing in the center of the console isn't hooked up to everything else. For instance, it doesn't know when its time to change the oil, doesn't know the state of the door locks. Doesn't know mpg.

So I am guessing the compass is not integrated with the GPS, so recalibrating the compass wouldn't do squat to fix the GPS problem.

Co-worker's Caddie is all synced and he can't change the radio without major headaches.

And yes, if its a 2014 by all means make them fix it.

Was your smart phone working? If you have Android, the app "GPS Essentials" can show you which satellites the phone is working with and what their signal strength is. I cannot imagine out in no-where having a problem with GPS. Had big problems with GPS in downtown Chicago trying to find my daughter after her (so-called) friends left her because she didn't have money for the train back after a car accident. If that was my son, he would have been read the riot act.
