Make sure the mounting area is clean -- I find that it doesn't take much haze/dirt for the suction cup to lose its grip. Next thing I'd try is a little moisture in the suction cup before you mount it.
I use body lotion and rubbed some all over the suction cup. Temperatures here in CO went -30 for a couple days, 'til now my Garmin hasn't fallen yet.
Rubber doesn't expand very well in lower temperatures.
I read somewhere quite a while that oil-based substances like lotion, vasoline, or stuff like that can make the suction cup adhere extremely well to surfaces. It was something to do with that water and saliva dry out very quick, but these oils never dry. Never needed to test it out, the cold doesn't affect Florida too much.![]()
I'm surprised some of you have Vaseline (is it KY gel or something in that nature) laying around your house. LOL
Well, once you grow up, you realize that Vaseline, is not only associated with self-gratification :wow:, but with chapped lips, small rashes, scrapes and abrasions that kids can get... :wink2:
Re-installed today using Vaseline. The cup slides a little on the mounting disc, perhaps put a bit too much. Will see how it holds.
This NEW and Amazing product will fix this for you. I had this problem also and was worried that the unit would break from one of the falls, well not any more and no more salavia on the suction cup either. My Magellan Roadmate 2200 keeps falling off since the temperatures went down - suction cup just does not hold.
Any ideas? I would appreciate all advice.
Thank you.
