This is a common problem, mine does it in the cold weather too. I have found that, as others have said, that keeping the surface of the windshield clean helps. I use a razor scraper to clean off the 'circle' left when you remove the suction mount. This also helps to not advertise you have a GPS in the vehicle when you store it away when parked. Also, when it gets cold, I try to warm the rubber material of the suction cup up a bit before applying it to the windshield, it is more pliable, and will work better when warmer.

Thank you for quick responses. All great suggestions, except that my GPS is NOT mounted to the glass.
I followed dcon's install http://www.toyota-4runner.org/audio-electronics/49471-garmin-nuvi-install.html and I'm using the mounting disc.
Tried the "saliva"
method. Worked for a while, but whe the temperatures fell, so did the GPS. 
Any other ideas? :shrug:

Use a Microfiber cloth onthe suction cup and windshield works wonders as well.

I was actually thinking if using vaseline (petroleum jelly), but was not sure I wanted to clean up the mess if it did not work out.
I'll try that tonight.

I read somewhere quite a while that oil-based substances like lotion, vasoline, or stuff like that can make the suction cup adhere extremely well to surfaces. It was something to do with that water and saliva dry out very quick, but these oils never dry. Never needed to test it out, the cold doesn't affect Florida too much.

Man, i learn new things everyday on this forum...i will try vasoline next.

Well, once you grow up, you realize that Vaseline, is not only associated with self-gratification :wow:, but with chapped lips, small rashes, scrapes and abrasions that kids can get... :wink2:

Must be new technology. I'm from old skewl. I use chapstick for chapped lips. I use johnson's baby powder for rashes. And for scrapes and abrasions; wash with soap and water, pour isopropyl alcohol, and a bandaid. So i'm sorry i know nothing about vaseline other than whether it's the gel or a product lotion.

Vaseline worked very well as the GPS mount held up in its place for 9 months. It probably could have held longer, but I knocked it off yesterday.
